You'll need to move those reference speakers closer together if you are doing audio production/mixing. If not your mixes are going to have stereo imaging problems.
moved things around abit again... the monitors are only about 2.5-3 feet away from each ear. I think that's a good enough distance?

I know i'd have a lot of fun here. Quite surprised you use a G4 mini, i'd think it'll be slow handling professional audio.

Finally got my desk set up in my new place which means I can finally use my 24" Dell monitor :D (bear in mind my new room is about the size of a box so it's a miracle it fits in at all).
Hey, I want a new monitor pretty badly. Is that the current 2407 dell or the 2405? Also how is it working for you? Looks pretty nice from the pics :)

It gets slow when theres too many things playing at once... I use Reason, I dunno - still saving up for a mac pro. And by saving I mean spending all my money on records. lol... I dunno when I'll get one.

Dude, more house party's even a residence at a local club, heck even event shows for say the local The Bay, The Gap, or a fashion show held at the big mall in your city. Just a few hints I wanted to drop, not like you need them as I know you DJ'd before, as discussed in another thread here, BUT just wanted to jostle your memory.

Its not so much how far away they are from your ears, but where they are and you are in relation to them.
The perfect setup is to be in an equilateral triangle, with you forming one corner and the speaker cones forming the other two, so anything as close to as possible is a bonus.......either that or you sit about 6 feet away from your desk

It's the 2405fpw. Apparently there's something about the 2407fpw that makes it inferior to the previous model - something about it only being 4-bit  . Search some 'expert' forums as I have no idea about this. I'm sure its a load of pedantic nonsense.
Anyway, I got my Dell for about a third of the normal price thanks to some misguided government computer literacy scheme. And I'm very, very happy with it (apart from the fact that the DVI cable wont screw into the back of the Dell very well...but that's probably me just missing something).

Vx2100 is a very nice camcorder, my uncle owns one, and I've used it plenty of times to tell you its worth the money.
I got the dvc30 just because my budget was so low, sure would have picked up a vx2100 if I had a little bit more money.

Whats in the pic: Xbox360, 30gb 5.5g iPod and dock, Acer 19inch monitor (just bought yesterday) and Creative speakers. Apple pro Keyboard and some crappy Logitech usb mouse.
Whats not in the pic: Wireless Mighty Mouse (cant find it!). Macbook Pro 2.16ghz 2gb Ram, Panasonic Lumix LX2 (black), Apple remote, EyeTV Hybrid and KVM switch box.
Macbook pro is in my drawer (u can just see the edge of it in the pic) and KVM switchbox is underneith my desk to switch between 360 and Macbook Pro.
Not the best setup here on macrumors but Im thrilled with mine, just got my new monitor and speakers and I love em, and the KVM works brilliantly to swtich between computer/xbox :D

Here is my set up... in case you would like to know, it consists of:
1. 2Ghz Macbook, 2 GB Ram
2. 20" ACD on wishbone mount
3. Apple wireless keyboard and mighty mouse
4. (Not Shown as is in drawer) 400 GB External
5. Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
There is a lot of cable management that has gone on to make this as neat as possible, as you can see the speaker controls are mounted under the desk, external drive is in a drawer with plenty of ventilation out the back, and of course getting rid of wires for the keyboard and mouse.

I personally would wall mount both monitors you have... then run the cables though the wall, assuming its not a concrete wall. All the other cables, you pretty much have taken good care of IMO.

As far as i know they dont either, that poster is just supposed to show the different airliners, so it might not be the most accurate to show what airlines actually operate the airliner.

So... no one is going to ask who that is on the desktop? Ok, I will. Who is he?
Well derrrr...
It's Tony Martin last time he was on "Thank God You're Here."
Funniest show that's been on in ages - like televised theatresports with celebrity comedians, actors, TV hosts, radio personalities etc.
Four celebrities are chosen each week, dressed up in a costume and thrust through a blue door into a situation they're going to have to ad-lib through whilst trying to sort out who they are and how that person would respond. They've had people auditioning for childrens' television, as local members of parliament, shonky real estate developers, everything. A member of the ensemble who take part in the scene greet each celebrity as they walk through the door with a variant of "thank god you're here" and then launch into the scene.
Very good show.

It was from Ikea a few years ago, closest they have now is the Galant one. I spent ages trying to find the right desk as I like to have a fair bit of room on the desk (especially as at the time I had 2 19" CRT screens) and also the leg configuration on it meant my chair area is nice and clear from obstruction.

Neither - when I bought the table I was able to get straight legs for it. Closer to the A legs than the T legs I guess.

Seems a bit strange. I very briefly thought about replacing my Macbook with a C2D MBP, but then realised I'd be better off just putting the extra £££ that that would cost towards an almighty Mac Pro at some point down the line.
The only reason I can think of going from MB to C2D MBP is if you really need the extra screen space, or are a gamer of some sort.

Quite old now - cant even think when I bought it but havent gotten round to updating it because it now just runs Gentoo and all I do on it is multiple aterm sessions, firefox, thunderbird and amarok. Iirc the specs are 1gb ram, 3200XP+ processor, nvidia 2 motherboard, geforce 256mb AGP graphics card (buggered if I can remember the model off the top of my head) and approx 1TB spread over a couple of HDD's of various sizes. Not really much of a machine these days and hopefully sometime after leopard it will be replaced with a Mac Pro. Best thing about it is the case is quiet groovy :)
Edit: When the Mac Pro arrives it will become a development server and my mini ITX will become just another file server.

anyways, back to the topic: I kind of understand it. I'm half tempted to sell mine. eBay pays ridiculous amounts, and I'm fairly sure for my blackbook I could sell it and buy the low end 15" MBP straight out. Worth it? Probably not. But these forums make me a bleeding edge type - I can't stand to be out-dated.. :p

My main concern was to keep it at silent as possible, just like it was meant to be. Thus, all my upgrades were tailored to that.
600mhz 7410 G4 (runs faster and cooler than the stock 7400 G4's)
80gb Seagate Barracuda
1.5gb ram maxed
Radeon 9200 128mb passive cooled (soon to be a Geforce 6200)
Airport card
8x Dual Layer Superdrive
Despite is slow speed, its still quite zippy. And best of all, its silent! Even in the dead of night its almost inaudible.
Oh, and I can't forget the beautiful SGI 17" widescreen display that I picked up for only $50 :)

I was toying with the idea of getting one way back when I was still deciding between MBP/MB - and thought (to myself) that those covers 'may' just get scratched up too easily (meaning long term they will look not so good - unless you replace it). Thanks so much! The plastic is pretty thick but as far as getting scratched, I think you might be right. It'll probably develop those little hairline scratches that you can only see at a certain angle under the light. I haven't taken it out of the house yet so it's still immaculate. I'm not sure what he meant, or how he would arrive at that conclusion, but it does feel pretty slow since System 7 has no graphics acceleration, not even 2D, running on the PowerBook G4. However, processing tasks is extremely fast, of course.

It isn't, it's Basilisk II (http://www.users.bigpond.com/pear_computers/), which of last release, finally seems stable, and has a nice full-screen feature. It emulates a 68040 processor. It's nice to have as it allows me to do some (only some, because no PowerPC) work on my web site (signature) while I'm away at school and don't have room for real System 7 machines on my desk.

I have an MX700 at the moment and it took me like 10 frustrating minutes to get the damn thing charging on it's base every time because it's so crappy so I use those Rayovac 15 minute rechargeable batteries because I have a million of those and rotate them in my mouse. There isn't a way to use the MX1000 via bluetooth or without the USB base.

me 3, ive used it so much the logitech symbol has worn off the top, and also the textured black stuff for your thumb has worn off, its shiny were my thumb is.
Logitech logo is gone on mine too, think it looks better all grey to be honest :)
As for the thumb part, sure its not oil from your finger? I've got 2 thats well over a year old and aren't shiney, they are kind of rubber based. Only time it gets shiney is from the oil of my thumb which starts to feel greasy, hate that. So I wipe it with a cloth and its matte and grippy again.
The MX-Laser sticker is starting to wear now too, but thats no biggie. Love the mouse though, best ever. I sometimes switch between the MX1000 and MX Revolution.
As long as the grey paint never wears off I'll be more than happy. As the silver on the MX700 had worn through to the white plastic and made it look tacky. Hated that, it still works though. 3-4 years old now and is a good mouse but really hated seeing the right click area where the paint was worn.

Nice collection, YS2003. I too try out a lot of mice (although I don't buy quite that many :D ) because I'm really picky. I've used every mouse you have there (and owned several of them) except the Revolution ones; I love the MX1000, but now I am using the Logitech S530 wireless desktop for Mac. The mouse has a similar feel to the MX1000, and the same tracking, but I do wish it had just one more button -- I used the middle thumb button for Expose on the MX1000, now I use the forward thumb button on the S530 mouse.
One thing about the S530 -- when I bought it, I thought that having the volume/mute buttons on the mouse itself was just about the dumbest idea ever. Now I use them so much, more than the controls on the keyboard! It's kind of like how I thought steering wheel radio controls were really stupid (because come on, the radio is like right there) until I owned a car with them, and now I find them indispensable.

I like computers. iBook for daily tug-along for document creations and minor graphic works for marketing while on the road or in the office.
Ti is now used mainly for iTune radio (through the external stereo speaker) and ripping DVDs to external HDs with MacTheRipper.
12" PB and 15" PB are used for CS2 and MX2004 works as they are hooked up with ACDs.
Dell is the work PC for Lotus Notes and company network related programs.
Tablet PC is for note-taking and virtual file cabinet (I am trying to reduce the paper document so that I can carry "electronic paper and notes" with me in this Tablet PC).
MBP is a toy for me now as I am interested in getting C2D MBP (Core Duo MBP did not make a cut for me as it was slow launching Office 2004/CS2). I am planning to start learning and doing video editing and 3D graphics with this new machine as it is more powerful than my other Macs.

I've never had a real problem with eBay, personally. You just have to be smart. Don't ship until you've been paid. I only accept PayPal, and I require that your account be linked to a PayPal account before you can even bid (which cuts down on the nigerian scams). I only ship within the US.
Alternatively, you could try the marketplace here. You won't get as much as you would on eBay, but you'll also be able to avoid eBay fees, and you'll (typically) have a higher caliber buyer, and less scams.
Also, craigslist is good if you live near a bigger city. You won't have to deal with any fees, and you can do everything in person, no shipping or anonymity hassles. I'd only accept cash, though, personally, because money orders can be falsified.

Have you tried running the cables along the display arm, putting the center speaker a little bit behind the ACD and lowering it, so that normally you can only see half the center speaker? I never used a wall-mounted display, but I think it'd look good.

My own experience tells me differently. The Core Duo model I tested in Apple Stores took so many seconds just to launch Office 2004 and CS2. That was a complete turn-off for me for those models ( I winced when I had to wait Core Duo MBP and MB took ages to launch those programs). I am simply stating what I experienced with the actual machines.

Sweet.
What sort of disk drive was the Atari? 5 1/4"?
In any case, it looks awesome! Great mod. :)
Yes, it was a 5 1/4" Floppy drive. I have a bunch of 8-bit Atari stuff from when I was kid and that particular drive was long dead. Since my wife's iBook died I figured it would be a fun project to marry the two together.
Here is some info on the Atari 810 : http://www.atarimuseum.com/computers/8bits/400800/810/810.html
Here is a little website I put up of how I did the Mod: http://homepage.mac.com/pfletch/PhotoAlbum25.html

It's actually custom made! There's a local company here that come to your house and you design it with them around the room, and it doesn't cost that much more than a normal desk! :D

I posted back in August just after I ordered my Mac Pro, but never posted a pic of it.
Here's my old PowerBook setup from before (taken in March) (Flickr link)

and attached is a pic I took today of my MP. I have too many peripherals to make it look pretty. :o She's named "Battlestar" and my drive partitions are Galactica (MacOS) and Pegasus (Windows). Clever huh. :p

I'm assuming you're talking about the desk design. The desk is from Office Depot. I bought it about two years ago. I haven't seen it since. It's a desk-in-a-box and isn't the best of quality, but it fits my needs great.

I tried to trim down on the #s. But, I heard so many horror stories in which selling has gone bad (products are shipped to the buyer, who did not pay). What would be the best and safest way to sell?
Use eBay, and then request that the buyer uses PayPal (http://www.paypal.com/).

Here is one of my Macs. Its an iBook 600 that had a dead screen so I put the guts inside an old Atari 810 Disk Drive case, painted it white and the iBrick was born.

Hmm, a little sacrilidgious but it's all good... Were you an Atari guy back in the day? I was a big Atari guy and I just picked up an old Apple IIe on eBay to fart around with.

Indeed I was. I actually still own several. I have an Atari 400,800,800xl,1200xl, 520ST, 1040ST and many peripherals.

Got new monitor + desk (really a table) and hooked my stereo up to my computer. Did have a 1200 watt sub hooked up, but its in my brothers truck. The old Performa won't turn on, but I think it needs a new PRAM battery.

Haha, nice! Take a look at my network setup (http://rogersmj.com/tech/network), you'll see I use a similar naming scheme (my iMac is Galactica, the routers are named after Cylon ships, my laptop's a Viper, and I did have something named Pegasus but it went bye-bye...kind of like the Pegasus :D ). Only the best show to ever grace the screen. :)
