Afro1989....If I were you I'd relocate your desk....seems to me that with all those goodies and a wall mounted Sammy your setup should look cooler....I think you should have picked out a different desk.....just my opinion though...peace

Yeah, there's a subwoofer in the chair and speakers behind where my head is when I sit in it. Listening to music it is leveled out with my front speakers and when watching movies the rear speakers are used for surround sound.

Bah. I've hesitated from posting mine here because I don't really have a "setup" given that I move around so often. But this is what's in my room now. ACD is borrowed from work for the summer.

I was going to buy a Mac Pro this summer and ACD to compliment my since sold 12" powerbook but I'm moving to Europe in August, so MBP it is.

Could you tell me wich model are they?
Thanks in advice :D

They're the Altec Lansing FX6021's. Fantastic speakers, but not cheap. Here's a link: http://alteclansing.com/product_details.asp?pID=FX6021

I've always wondered what this is about. What is it with these tiny cup holder like mouse mats? :)
It's always drove me nuts with such small mouse pads, don't get me wrong. It looks cute in that pic. It's just I've seen so many setups with these tiny pads.
I've tried it myself, and prefer reasonably sized pads. I find it so difficult to work on something like that.

The iMac sure does look great, the Leopard wall really compliments the look.

Also love the speakers, always loved the look of those since I saw them in that Jodie Foster film when she had hers with the 30" ACD.

Some people (myself included) have their mouse speeds up extremely high. It only takes a flick of the mouse to go from one side of the screen to the other. I think I only need to move the mouse about 1/2" to scan the whole screen, so I don't need a large mouse pad.

Yep. Turn the tracking speed up and the mouse pad size is irrelevant :)

Well I finally got around to building my own desk. All I wanted was a large, clean looking work surface, so I settled on white pine boards on a subframe with steel legs. I did it all today, and I just finished getting everything set back up on it (the rest of the room is a complete disaster right now, I managed to make this corner look good for the pics ;) ).

http://rogersmj.com/images/desk_render_underside_thumb.jpg (http://rogersmj.com/images/desk_render_underside.jpg)

Here's a rendering of the design I did in Google SketchUp. As you can see from the underside, the perimeter of the surface (which is actually four 1x8 boards) is rimmed with 1x2 strips, in addition to three more running across the middle from front to back. This is all glued and screwed together. The legs, although you can't see it in the rendering, have flanges that come out slightly on the top with screw holes. They're just screwed into the underside of the surface through those shims I have on there. It is pretty stable. There doesn't seem to be any flex happening at all in the surface, but I'm considering putting a fifth leg in the center back (right under where the iMac sits) just to be safe.

I got the design idea from another member here on the forums. I believe his was 7 feet long.

NickD
Jul 1, 2007, 11:22 AM
Cool! I'll have to try something like that when I build mine, though I won't need as much bracing because it's only 60" long and 27" deep.

It is 6 feet long by 29 inches deep. The surface is composed of four six-foot long 1x8 inch boards, and since an "8 inch" board is actually 7.25" wide, with four of them you get 29 inches.

Despite being a little late for a normal response, the BB gave me a little trouble, as I was trying to do graphical things with it (GMA 950). Really, it was just a stand in, to hold off against going insane with windows while I worked up enough money for the Pro. You should definitely get the MBP, you won't regret it.

Thanks for the comment. It's difficult to tidy up the wires as there are simply so many. I have not yet even set up my 5 external HDs.
I am planning to get another Mac when Apple launches the next OS Leopard. Possibly this time Mac Pro for more horsepower. Or, I might get another MBP along with MP. I am a sucker for Apple's design and engineering masterpiece.

I cannot get rid of my 2 PBs. They are classic. I use my 12" PB at work along with the company-issued Dell notebook (which is too heavy to carry it with me every day).

Hello All,

I am working part-time at an Apartment Complex to help supplement my income.

Of course with all the money going out to fix our apartments, our Office Computer is the last thing to be upgraded.:(

Here is my current configuration Believe It or Not:

Processor info: PowerPC G3
Machine Speed: 350 Mhz
Hard Drive: 6.33 GB Capacity, 5 GB Available
Operating System: Mac OS 9.2
Video Memory: 8 MB
Disk Cache: 4096K
Virtual Memory: 193 MB
Built-in Memory: 128 MB PC100-322S
Keyboard: Apple USB Keyboard

You have to love how this Mac continues to survive...

It's absolutely amazing to me how a computer this old has survived the 'test of time'.

When I think of all the PCs I went through while this machine keeps ticking makes me a Mac Follower Forever...

Let me know what you think...

I think the best part is when you're talking about your Linux box and it almost seemed like you ran into your closet. That was by far my favorite part even if it didn't happen.

And for someone who hates windows so much using it on your mac for your phone seems silly. I'd drop that phone if I hated windows as much as you say you do. ;)

I wish i could get an emulator but it needs a dongle using the Apple desktop bus so that we can use the siemens software. They were first powered on in October 1999. They are on for 7 - 10 hours a day. Unbreakable.

Believe it or not, they are quite snappy computers to use. There are only a few programs that you get the clock up on the screen. Never any longer than 20 seconds though.

I am using shareway IP to connect the mac mini to them so we can view the images on it and back them up / email them to doctors etc. Very inexpensive file backup and storage solution. every patient i have scanned over the last 2 years is on the mini. thanks to spotlight, we can view all of them in a flash!!

Cheers dude, the projector is an espon emp-tw10, i have had it now for 3 years, back in the day it stung me around £900 in the uk so i am sure you can pick up todays equivalent alot cheaper. At the moment i am just waiting for the HD projectors to come down in price then i think i might upgrade,

H-o-t :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

Shame the centre channel is so low below the screen, otherwise it could have been absolutely perfect. I guess video editing is what you do then?

Reason for that was because i used to have a projection screen there before and after ceiling mounting the projector i decided to get rid of it, its an easy fix which i might get done this week hopefully with a bit of free time. And by the way i am a student of architecture so i do, do a gd wee bit of video editing, but at the moment i am trying to finish of my photography portfolio and get my website up and running which i hope to show you guys pretty soon, have a nice day! Peace ;)

That wallpaper is still, as it has been the last 2,074 times this question was asked, from InterfaceLift (http://209.85.64.51/wallpaper/previews/00660_splash.jpg). :D
