I had this powerbook since I was 15 and im 17 now.
From left to right
iPod Shuffle 512mb, TiBook 1Ghz/512MB, 6x8 Bluetooth Tablet and USB Bluetooth adaptor.

Love the TiBook man, those were quite the creation...
Beautiful machines.

Absolutely. I can now view my images at 50% resolution, and with Expose, getting to the apps are no prolem. Big mistake on my part. Should have gone to the 30 from the start, at least in my line of work (photography and color correction).

Very happy with the new member - thanks, all.

I love it, two things to remember
Inkwell does not work with the current drivers that come with the tablet.
The tablet everymonth will not be able to power on when you push the power button. People do not know whats wrong but the solution to the problem is to remove and put back the battery and it works.

Bettery is very good, 20plus hours. Distance is good, i can use it around the house. I use it to present in class and piss off the tablet PC teachers.

Anyhow my problem is that they don't do advance replacement, so I have to get through ~850GB of work, and/or get through enough work that I can get it down to using Toast 7 for spanning-about-a-hundred-DVDs-to-back-up what I couldn't get to. Then I have to wait a couple of weeks before they send me a repaired, refurbished or new drive.

I wish they did advance replacement! If they were actually serious about being in the storage business, they would do that.

Here is an older pic of mine, although a lot has changed, it is one of my favorite photo.
15" PB 1.5GHz 2GB Ram
iCurve
Creature II (been moved)
Altec Lansing FX
iPod mini 2G 4GB (I am an iPod "adder" and love to collect iPods, I have tons)
BT KB + Mouse
Much has changed, but I am re-doing my office at the moment so no updated pics just yet, will have them soon. I'm also going to get the next update of PowerMacs so I will wait until everything is done to post a pic.
That's freakin' sweet!!! The colors are so coordinated!!

I love it, I have that same AIO printer hooked up through Airport, it's a great printer for the price. Love the sign behind the PB, feels very personalized. I also like the Apple promos on the left side. Can you take a close up of the red one? I believe its the iPod, but I havent seen that one before.

which lens is that? it's huge

Based on his signature I would reckon that's the 400mm 2.8L, AWESOME lens. I have no where near the pocketbook to support it (nearly $6600   ) but have shot threw one of these once....and only once. Nice.

Edit: My setup is coming shortly, I have to clean up a bit first. I just moved back from school for another three months, so stuff is everywhere and even if I took the pic, you couldn't see the PB :p

1. PowerMac 7100 in November 1995, had a 80 mHz PPC601, 700MB hard drive and 8MB of ram. Totally wicked.
2. PowerMac 7300 from August 1997 through May 2001. 200 mHz upgraded to a 300 mHz G3 later, 2GB hard drive, 32MB ram upgraded to 192 or so. I remember going way frankenstein on that thing, among other things I had some random TV card in there that caused magnetic interference and had my monitor (a refurb Sony 15" Trinitron) showing a skewed image. No skew controls on the monitor. Damn.
3. Pismo PowerBook from January 2001 to present. 400 mHz G3, 8MB Rage Pro GPU, 10GB hard drive, 128MB ram, DVD drive. Best Mac I've had. Period. I would do ANYTHING to upgrade this thing and keep it current a little longer if I could, even after all this time, but I've already maxed out everything (see my sig). Reliable, rugged. Simply an incredible machine, I couldn't say enough good things about it if I had all day. High water-mark for Apple portable engineering. I'm planning to get a new PB when they are updated, but I'll be thinking about my Pismo...

My school just got 12 new dual 2.7ghz G5s with 23" displays, 4 GBs of ram each, 400 GBs of HD each, and, as if the 250GB in each wasnt enough, a 4TB SAN and an XServe to tie it all together and distribute tasks when some aren't in use. They call it the Digital Aquarium and it kicks ass.

Sadly they had to get some dells for the 3D modelling people who demanded them, but they hid them in the back.

You'll never believe this but actually it's Georgia State University. Yes, a state school that's not specializing in arts or anything. Cool huh? I think they can afford it because the Digital Aquarium is for the whole school, all 28,000 of us. Luckily, it's tucked away in the back of the top floor of the student center so barely anyone knows about it. :D

btw, I'm there for a BFA in Graphic Design

Well parts of the school are a little dogdey, but since it is built (or retrofitted into older buildings) on any land the government can pry away from local businesses. For example, Kell Hall is built in what used to be a 60 year old parking structure, so the floor is all lumpy, theres big wide ramps instead of stairs, and the connections to the adjoining GSU buildings are all missaligned because the building is leaning now. Meanwhile, the rec center is one of the best in the country, the film school has better and more up to date technology than any school in the south east, and we have the best housing in the state. To me, yes the schools gone downhill in appearance and, err, structural integrity, but we also have the best of the best in other areas.

Oh and keep an eye on your sister. Athens is definately a drinking,-smoking-and–doing-very–stupid-things town.

I figured I would be setting myself up for a comment like that , but oh well, I have just cause to know who that is. He costarred (I guess you could say) in The Day After Tomorrow which I actually like, despite being a poor movie, because Emmy is in it ;). It was on for nearly a month straight on HBO this summer when I was at uni (we got upgraded to free HBO, 5 channels, at our apts :D) so I got to know it very well. On top of that, well I'm just a movie freak and have seen the preview for Jarhead a lot lately, which he costars in alongside Jamie Foxx.

As far as Mariah goes, she did get sluttified, sad considering she did sound good but now I just can't listen anymore.

I'm proud of my room, though like I said, I'm in the process of redecorating. We're painting a light golden color (to match the bedspread) and framing only a select few of the MC posters. While I love the room, I painted and decorated it age 11 and added postes since then...but I've outgrown it.

Anyways, it's not any worse than some people having a $4000 computer to play video games or $10000 to watch movies.

Mac 128K and Lisa 2/10.

Mac 128k bought new in Fairbanks Alaska in late 1984. #10 to be purchased in Fairbanks.
After Bruce Horn (aka "the human 68000 compiler") gave a "program a Mac" presentation at the UofA-Fairbanks, I soon thereafter purchased a Lisa 2/10 as a "developer" and affiliated with the first "software cooperative". In other words, a bunch of us, not distracted by beaches, bikinis and warm weather can get together as a group (Fairbanks Software Co-op.) and write some software for this new machine... That's how we got the Lisa's.
We had LisaPascal, Consulair's C compiler, or Apple's Assembler as the programming tools of choice at that time.

I'm a dudette. Most people call me Maggie :p

I thought so ;) It wasn't the Mariah stuff, it was the Gyllenhaal background that started me thinking....well that coupled with the Mariah stuff

It's a little intense, but I have seen worse and really it's just a big fan which is cool. I support it, but I support the remodeling too :D Post an after-pic when you get it all changed over and framed up.

@Bowzer, your setup looks more inviting for a nice after hours chill session - am I on the guest list?? (PS If you spin house; ChuChu Remix of Erick Morillo "Waiting in the Darkness" awsome current favorite track & DJ Kucho "Esparanza" love those tracks!).

@mariahlullaby, dont let these guys bug ya about Mariah. I used to hate her, but I find your recent album irresistable for some odd reason. She looks hotter than ever after rehab. And Slutty? Please after she married her first producer that got her in the business - thats when slutty began (what we say her first 4 albums was just a persona) - wasnt it La Face?? Better to idolize a woman whom accepts being a women of lust & power & still has a voice than for someone thats a drug user and thinks crack is below her drug standards - Whitney?!! :p

SO where is all the other setups?? Over 1% market share increase; wheres the proof??!!

Hehe, yea - its definatly a nice place to chill and play some records :)

i use synergy http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ mac on the left, pc on the right. for those that dont know, its an app that can 'fake' dual monitors between different computers, and even different operating systems.

I go to Kettering University (http://www.kettering.edu), an penis-fest of semi-intelligent wanna-be engineers, and some computer science folks  ;)

I convince myself every term that I need to be there and that I am getting a decent education, but I am starting to doubt my own words now, and I lie damn well so that's pretty depressing.

whoa major brian fart

can't you use it as a video frame by frame tool in FCP?

it does multiple things i believe:confused:

edit: from their web site

Edit movies just like the pros with PowerMate functioning as your very own Jog/Shuttle wheel. Spin PowerMate to scroll through footage and push the integrated button to cut out unwanted pieces. Use it in audio production to jump from track to track, adjusting volume levels as you go. PowerMate makes editing anything from home movies to your next demo a breeze. It even comes preset to work with iMovie, FinalCut Pro and GarageBand right out of the box!

We have 28 G5's w/ 20" ACDs in Atlanta. :)

The GA Tech library has a media lab in the library with 5-6 G5s with dual 20" screens on each one, plus a stack of AV equipment.

I'm not a student there, but if you show them a student ID from any university they will let you in as long as its not during finals or anything.

If you can swing a Quad PowerMac for Xmas, I would say go for it. I think the general consensus is that Intel chips will hit the consumer lineup before the pro lineup, so the current release of PMs should be quite current for a while, especially that new quad. Oh, I get all excited mentally and physically just thinking about it ;)

I say do it if you can, great computer me thinks. I know I would buy one, or two, if I had the money....but alas :(

Holy crap dude. I couldn't give a lick for video editting, but that setup is so clean and beautiful regardless of what you are doing. Throw in those awesome looking drawings, which you state will one day be your house (foot the bill for that too, looks expensive :p) and you are one smoking guy. Married? show them your computer setup and you will be  :D

I have a Dell xps gen intel pentium 4 processor 3.6GHz 800FSB, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM at 533Mhz, 256 Nvidia GEforce 6800, Serial ATA RAID 0 with Dual 250GB hard drives. I had a dell's 19" inch monitor but sold it to get the Apple 23-inch cinema hd display but Once I get the Apple G5 quad, I will need to get other monitor for my Dell, is the dell 24 inch has better resolution than the 19 because i'm planning on buying the 24-inch soon. By the way I like your setup.

No I don't use Avid, I used Adobe Premeire Pro for a number of years but wouldn't even think of going back, I do love Final Cut Pro, Motion, and of course my G5.

Right now I still use the PC for all my Architectural design as my architectural program of choice is windows only and is VERY expensive. So I will just stick with it for...after all it does a god job.

I had dual 19" Samsung Syncmasters before the Dell's and I do have to say the 24" Dell's are a great buy. Built in card reader, USB ports, S-Video, Composite, Component, VGA, DVI inputs. Also has PIP, and PBP. Great picture!

Costs less than the 23" Apple displays. Although, I do like the look of the Apple displays personally.

Try http://www.imageshack.us]imageshack] (http://www.imageshack.us) if you haven't already heard of it. It automatically makes forum thumbnails for you that link to your fullsized images ;)

After I load my images to imageshack, which option should I choose? There are like 7 options and I can never tell which one will actually do what I want it to do.

After I load my images to imageshack, which option should I choose? There are like 7 options and I can never tell which one will actually do what I want it to do.

Once you upload an image to imageshack you should select the "forums thumbnail" option that most closely resembles how these forums would post it manually.

That is, you want one that has the format of:
xxxxxxxx[ / url] (no spaces in second /url but I had to to cancel the url)

I'll go check that this instant, but I think that is correct.

Edit: Below is the format taken from the "October Desktops" thread showing the posted styling for a thumbnail.

[IMG]http://imgxxx.imageshack.us/imgxxx/xxxx/xxxxx.jpg[/ IMG][/ URL]

Again, no space between the slash and the img or url, you have to close that but then you should have an attached thumbnail in your post just like this.

Edit2: Or if you have some image editing software you can either click "save for web" or simply lower the size of the image (resolution size which also lowers file size) and then simply attach it for a result like this.

Ambient lighting is the way to go if you are a professional mac user (i.e., photo, illu, web, graphics...).

Fluorescent lights are nasty...

Why pay for heating bill when you can have 6 halogens on?

cheers for the comments, well firstly im in the UK so this may mean nothing to you lol but the dispencers (optics) are from makro www.makro.co.uk. the yard is from the gadget shop as are the shot glasses but the shop has closed down now. you might be able to pick them up online. the zero hero half yard ive been able to do, just, but the one next to it standing upright (whole yard) i am yet to conquer. more of an excuse to drink :P

Is the point of the yard/half-yard to slam it all at once or simply to drink that much substance? I have seen them before but I can't recall their purpose.

Thanks for the info, I'll be looking around to see what's offered state-side as well as at Makro's there.

these setups are getting out of hand. :D

how do you like your AKAI 16 controller? I almost bought one of those, but i went with the Trigger Finger (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/TriggerFinger-main.html) instead ... i just got one. :) i may exchange this one because one pad seem to be a bit too sensitive and triggers from impacting the pads above and below.

can't wait to get my hands on Live 5; is that Reason 3 i see ... i really need to upgrade. :(

Ok, I have wanted to get into music production for aslong as I can remember. I am a mac fanatic and I really want to be able to start making some hip hop beats. What would be some good things to get me started? Programs, keyboards ect..? How do people that were discovered through their music production know how to work all of the professional equipment so well without going to a Full Sail type of school? (like kanye west)
