Check out these before and after shots of some of my favorite male celebs. I can't believe the lows that Matt Damon has fallen to. Also Brendan Fraser. Ah well, maybe they'll look good again someday.

Apparently, even with the money for personal trainers and chefs people have serious problems with their weight. They are still great actors (except for K-fed). I don't think Ryan Gosling or Channing deserve to be on here!

Well the camera does add 10lbs. :o

But alas, that is the way of mother nature.

Yeah, but Matt Damon gains and loses a lot of weight for his roles. Remember him in Courage Under Fire?

Have the 'sleb magazines had enough of their 'OMG! Supermodels and their Cellulite' articles?

Some of the 'After' photos are because the actors have put on some Oscar weight for 'serious' roles.

Wouldn't the camera add 10lbs in both pictures?

That must be my problem - now to find the 20 or so cameras focused on me and get rid of 'em. :D

They are not human--they are celebrities which are an entirely different species. :)

It's a lot more than 10lbs in most cases. Anyway, its interesting (to me at least) that some of them have changed so much within 1 or 2 years.

Guh, "celebs". A great word to instantly cheapen any topic.

Matt got chunky for his role in The Informant, and Rourke looks pretty good for a 57 year old man who has punished his body as much as he has.

Chris Klein is not chunky, in 1999 he was younger and as an adult he looks rather healthy.

K-fed looks like he put on about 30 pounds. You want some fries for that shake?

A couple comments:

I don't think the Matt Damon one is fair. He is shooting a movie, who says that the role didn't involve him gaining some weight on purpose? It goes with the mustache... It's not uncommon for actors/actresses to adjust their weight for particular roles.

Secondly, what's to say there isn't some selective photo shopping going on? I certainly wouldn't be crazy to think that US might 'accentuate' some slight bulges, some of which might even be caused by the clothing at the time.

Where's the obligatory Christian Bale photos from around the time he was filming "The Machinist"? He looked rather plump in "The Dark Knight".

that is way too funny. but to answer your question, about 5?

DeNiro did it but I can't think that it is even remotely healthy to have your weight go up and down like that.
