Black shirt and jeans --> SJ's uniform. :)

He does look thin, but that is to be expected considering what he has been through.

That's the prototype for the new iJobs....I see they've gotten it really thin this time around! The black shirt is just prototype camouflage to hide the real body panels underneath...rumor has it they are translucent.

That's pretty accurate. I'm just glad the man is ok. Leave him alone already. I know everyone here loves him, and I won't lie about my man-crush on the guy, but really - he just wants peace and space right now.

TMZ is a real "news" site for "personality sightings." Since this obviously is news and it is clearly a personality sighting. It is real. Good job TMZ and their contributor.

I have seen a variety of anorexic folk and they all wear long sleeve shirts and long pants, so that is not surprising for someone with a disease related to nutrition shortage. Yes he is wearing his "uniform".

Just bless your lucky stars he is not wearing his shorts, commando, and hanging out as some accounts have reported!

I leave you with that image. :D

I have been wondering how he has been but I must admit he looks one meal missed away from death. I am a huge Apple fan and really appreciate what Jobs has done for the Mac world and all Apple products. Yet, looking at this photo convinces me he is a long way to a full recovery and makes me wonder if there is continued health issues that will eventually overcome him. he's a vegetarian.
No matter what his diet is, he can still gain muscle weight. Since he can afford it, he can hire a personal trainer and nutrionist to maximize the benefits from the calories he eats.
BTW, Jobs eats fish (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=192). Last time I checked, fish don't grow on trees. So, please don't go calling him a vegetarian. It's insulting to vegetarians such as myself.

I was always under the impression that fish was not considered a meat, cause I'm catholic and during lent on fridays we can't eat meat but we can eat fish. all I meant was a sandwich wouldn't have much to it because most people eat sandwiches with ham or turkey or the such. I know there are different kinds of vegetarians like those that eat no animal products, those that eat this such as eggs but no meat and so on. I didn't mean to be rude I was just using vegetarian as a broad term to mean a diet without meat such as chicken, pork, or beef.

I think this is relevant, especially considering everyone is worried about his health. I'm at least glad that he's well enough to be at work and we have proof of it (since Apple can't always be trusted with what they tell us, right?).

He doesn't look well, and he hasn't looked that well for a long time already, but if he really was that sick you wouldn't see him at work (at least I don't think you would). Also, it's nice to know he has been giving "statements" in press releases and it seems like he's getting back to work.

Wish him a full, quick recovery!

To the TMZ-haters, you'll just have to get over it. The FIRST photo of Steve Jobs since his surgery is simply news relevant to this site, and TMZ happened to have it. It would be inappropriate for MacRumors to reject sources based on some sort of irrelevant ethical posturing. This photo could have been taken by Michael Vick using puppy bones as a tripod, and MacRumors would still kind of have to post it. Just gotta deal with it, folks.

Steve still looks the same, pretty thin. Not better, not worse than before -- but being well enough to be at work is a good sign methinks. He's recovering, so he was never likely to look like a million bucks (yet), but I was holding out hope that he would have gained more weight since the last time we saw him. Perhaps he hasn't had enough time yet.

Thinking positive! Want to have Steve with us as long as possible! Good health to you, sir!

As someone stated, ripped is more like it. I have the same build as Johnny, lots of hours in the gym, definitely ripped. Short and muscular does not mean husky lol. :p

On another note, people forget that the mortality rate on pancreatic cancer is very high, adding liver cancer/liver transplant into that equation and, well, you get the idea. Steve has a long road but he's very fortunate that he has that road. :)

Wow. Give this guy a break. A less ignorant way to form an opinion on how well he is recovering is the fact that he is up and about and has the strength to actually go to work everyday. If he wasn't recovering well, he wouldn't have the strength to be back at work. He's got the best medical care money can buy, and they wouldn't have allowed him to start working again if he wasn't well enough. It took him almost a year to lose that weight, its not going to come back overnight. Jesus.

I think the purpose of this thread is it's supposed to be the first visual of Steve since he's come back from medical leave.

Remember that post not too long ago about him being spotted at the Cold Play concert and everyone wined that the guy didn't get a picture....well, here it is.

Love the way you just had to throw in the gratuitous female in there.

For emphasis, really. When I think of supermodels, I'm not thinking of the Y chromosome. IMO, Today's genre of female supermodels are morbidly skinny - pathologically obsessed with their weight and appearance. It's an unfortunate and unhealthy stigma of which Steve's appearance reminded me.

Sorry, but this is not even remotely appealing to me. YMMV.

what is the point?

Another attempt: I am personally not interested at all what Mr. Jobs looks like or where he goes or comes from or with whom.

But the fact that there was not only one single photograph of him published in the last six, seven or eight months (esp. in the last four or five weeks) is a very, very rare thing in our over- and hyper-mediated times. Isn't it? Last but not least he is a top-class celebrity. Obviously without Facebook account.

You can count such persons on the fingers of one hand. I only remember the famous writer Carlos Castaneda who could manage in his lifetime that there is not only one photo of him. Maybe I can understand those attitudes.

And it's not trusted that the photo is really taken some hours ago. Maybe it's an old one or a complete fake. It's summer slump you know...

Vegetarianism has many variants. If you partake in one form and not another it is not your place to scorn the other forms, nor take offense. You could take the time to teach those around you about the different practices, or at least the form you practice.

What does it matter anyway, there isn't an official accreditation, certification, or otherwise for vegetarians or "vegetarian foods" in the U.S. (I may be wrong on that point). Although, I believe the U.K. does.

Who is this Steve Jobs guy anyway?

The Reverend

Mr. Job is just a man.

His time on this world has become more limited than he thought.

It's sad that people have to focus on his poor health to find something to talk about.

Sure, maybe his health is a concern for stock holders that believe the company is based on Mr. Jobs and not what he created.

I'm pray for his health to get better, and that has nothing to do with the company or stocks.

He is a man that now has serious health issues and I can relate and understand because I have known people his age and with his health issues.

To Mr. Jobs.. many of us are watching.. we may not be happy with some of your choices. But that doesn't mean that we do not care about your well-being as a person.

I would never wish cancer or any other such terrible disorder on anyone I have ever known and even disliked.

Get well and find your happy place, ill or not.. your time like all of the rest of us is limited in this world.

I pray that you will see in your last days that you can still do much good in this world and choose to do that good.

:)

Good luck with your health Mr. Jobs.

To add to the whole vegetarianism debate, if Steve Jobs eats fish in addition to vegetables, fruit and whatnot, this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pescetarian) seems like a more accurate term to describe his kind of diet.

Also, @eastercat what's so insulting? If Steve, or anyone else, for that matter, isn't a pure vegetarian, are they below you or something?

Looks fine to me tbh.

Is he thin? Yes. People do thin out in old age. But frail and weak? I wouldn't say so. How can you make that statement anyway, all you can see is a little bit of his hands and a blurry face, the rest is covered by a black turtleneck (black being a bad choice since it makes people look thinner). He looks thin and lanky next to Ive who is shorter and husky.

In fact you can see he has a bit of a pot belly if you look at the blown up picture on the right.

Though it eventually showed up on an eponymous compilation album as well as the "Blue" album (http://www.amazon.com/1967-1970-Blue-Album-Beatles/dp/B000002UZ1) and the second (e.g. good) Past Masters (http://www.amazon.com/Past-Masters-Vol-2-Beatles/dp/B000002USZ). :)

Is Jonny Ive morphing into the yang to Jobs's yin? Jobs is tall, wears black and thin, Ive is short, wears white and is erm, husky.
Yup, that's why the iPhone, the previous gen MacBooks and various iPod models were made in black and white, in honor of Mr. Black and Mr. White. I wonder who the secret Mr. Silver might be, though. Probably an alien.
