During a thread, I had a question about why a member provided different info than I gave someone. I decided to PM him to ask why he gave the info. In response he told me not to question his posts and not to waste my time PMing him. Did I do something wrong here? I really want to know.

You didn't do anything wrong, really. It's kinda like calling somebody you don't know, maybe they will talk to you, maybe they will hang up. :)

Unfortunately, people can be inconsiderate to strangers. They're not worth your time. Not much you can do about it but move on.

Was I supposed to question him in the thread? I almost got the impression that to question him at all is beneath him. Soooo, in the meantime, I don't know exactly why he told the OP what he did and can't ask in the thread. I always feel like

Deleted....I don't think I should put what I had here, since it'll let you know who I talked to.

And I consider him one of the more respectable members of the forum from what I've seen of his posts.

Edit: And I wasn't saying he didn't know his facts.

Very funny, doc! I really don't know what to do, actually.

Edit: It would've been better if he just told me I was stupid or something (and why I was stupid, so at least I know in the future).

Meh PM'ing a stranger can go one of two ways. I made one of the best friends I could have PM'ing a stranger and managed to figure out how nutty could be by PM'ing someone else. It's a gamble. You did nothing wrong.

Aggie, buck up kiddo, it's ok. ;)

I know. :) That is why I delete them without reading them. :p

You did nothing wrong. However, there are some real ***holes on here. Questioning respectfully in public allows the rest of us to see the information was incorrect. And if the person goes all mental/abusive on you on the thread, the rest of us can see what an ***hole he/she is and the moderators can discipline them.

Okay, will do.

If it pertains to the OP's discussion, I usually ask politely why?

I figure that it is good for discussions sake.

Very funny, doc! I really don't know what to do, actually.
No worries.

Actually, you can not insult other members on the forum, so he would be in violation if he called you stupid or said that you were stupid.

Anyhow, I wouldn't worry about it. And the next time, I would suggest making a polite inquiry on the thread that you are reading.

Yes, do you wish to make Aggie jokes, since I noticed you bolded the "stupid" in your response?

Um.....OK, I've just GOT to ask. Aggie, do you have a life? I've noticed that you've been posting like crazy ever since you joined MR, which was only last month. Good grief!

this could be said about so many users, including myself, after a certain date in time. I found that my job bored me and left me in front of a computer. Mac Rumors was more productive then addictinggames.com.

How do I even win responding to that? Yes, I have a life. I like this site a lot. For the most part, it's interesting and I think I help some people, while learning things as well. Other times, it's a lot of fun. I'm sure my enthusiasm will gradually dwindle, but for now it's a good sideline to my crappy job. I'm also planning on becoming a developer, so I'm glad I found this site.

I usually go on Omgpop.com when there's not a lot of new posts/threads on MacRumors. The games are really fun on there.

Goldenmackid: Take a look at Aggie's profile; he/she has accumulated an amazing number of posts in just over a month.

Well, Aggie, I'm sure glad that I am not your employer, paying you good money while you merrily participate in MR instead of doing whatever it is you're supposed to be doing! If, as is likely, your employer's IT department has a way of looking at what you're doing, not to mention your productivity going down the tubes, you may soon find that you don't have a job any more....

Now, of course, if you're a kid still in school, which is also very likely, and this being summertime, vacation time, there's some latitude...but even so, your posting really does seem excessive.

All -- or most -- of us like this site a lot. I love it. No arguments there! It's fun, there's lots of interesting discussions and lots of ways in which to participate. However, even when at the peak of enthusiasm, most people don't rack up the number of posts you seem to have done in a really rather short period of time......

I know that this sounds critical, but really, it's out of concern. Please do step back from the computer, get outside, experience the real world, too!

...

Given my Spy addiction I've seen aggie, but to each their own. My summer for the past three weeks was 10 hour work days in which I would be given a task a day, which was completed and as an intern told to stay around for the extra time daily in case copying jobs, coffee runs, etc came about. I'd go home and do two-three hours of biking. A tad of both and I'm also a student, but that has nothing to do w/ PM's. (I also knew no one where I was because I was in a different state...now I'm back in Dallas, so it's hang out and then come back home and find things to do...

I lived in Bryan till I was 6, then CS till I was 9 when I moved to DE. My mother taught at A&M for 14 years. A great town and school!
