I have a 17" Powerbook G4

It is unusual because it has an Arabic keyboard. (dual, there are standard letters
on it too.) The guy at the apple shop said it was really unusual because they were never made, so this one must have been custom made.

I'd like to sell it and get a macbook pro

Holy crap! He wants $2000 for a 17" Powerbook? That keyboard may be rare and all, but no way does it increase the value of the computer by $1200

I call Scam. Since when does Apple cater to individuals.

Move along, just an aftermarket upgrade.

There are companies that will laser-engrave the keys for a small fee, and the end-product looks completely factory. Paying more because a computer has a "rare" keyboard is ridiculous. Here's an example of a laser-engraved Hebrew keyboard:

oh yes, that looks like how mine would have been done.

I'm looking for about $700 for mine. I have it hooked up to an external monitor and use a blue tooth keyboard so the keys don't bother me at all.

But I think I'm unlikely to find anyone wanting it unless they use arabic!

If possible, you could even advertise it on detroit.craigslist.org

Dearborn is the largest Arabic community in the United States. You can make an ebay post to make it more comfortable, and post it on craigslist maybe?

It's rather interesting though.

I am an Arabic translator. You can buy engraved key tops for a nominal price. However I, like many others in my profession do not look at the keyboard itself when typing as we have memorized the letters' positions, just the way an English typing person knows the positions of each letter on the keyboard.

I don't see any benefit for having a layout in Arabic or any language, unless it is going to be used by a total novice.

Maybe I was once a novice, until I learned touch typing in Arabic.
