unlocking fido iphone to use AT&t

I have a Fido iphone. I am moving to the states and want to use this phone with AT&T. If I unlock it, will I be able to? also what is the best way to unlock it? Thanks

fido automatically hops onto at&t from what i understand.

unfortunately, i am roaming at that point. i will pay through the nose. i need to get an AT&T plan.
