I'm looking for a sleeve for my new iBook G4. I browsed through some of the other book case threads and found some good stuff, but most of them seem to be focusing on carry-alone bags that can hold anything from magazines to an extra computer, or disguise the fact you've got a laptop.

I'm a college student, so I'll be carrying it around in a backpack most of them time--so the only real requirements are that it be slim (I don't want to have to fit a bulky deal into my backpack) and just durable enough that it can handle some jostle while in a bag. Anything else I want to bring along can go in my backpack; I just want to protect my iBook.

These are the sort of things I've been looking at. I was wondering if anyone could spare me some input/advice on the type of thing I'm looking for.

Willow Minimus (http://www.willowdesign.com/SLV-22.html)
Black, simple. $41. Foam padding. Not really my style, I don't think.

Booq iSleeve12 (http://www.booqbags.com/ibooq.html)
Looks nicer and sturdier than the Minimus. Black/Grey or Grey/white. $35

Spire Boot (http://www.spireusa.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=SU&Product_Code=BT3)
Slim, black. $30. Also looks nicer than the Minimus. (I'm beginning to think everything does.)

Timbuk2 Messenger bag (http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/catalog/productlisting.t2?priceSizeId=27&skuSetIdStr=46&categoryId=21)
Different colors. (I do like colors...greys and blacks aren't really my thing.) Very nice, actually. $50.

Roadwired bag (http://www.roadwired.com/store/Product.cfm?categoryid=1&Productid=53)
Comes in Yellow. That's a nice touch. $35.

So, yeah. If anyone has any input on the above (or sugggestions of other items) I'd be muchly indebted to them. Thanks.

Check out the iBook sleeves at www.radtech.us
I have one and love it. Its very thin, sleek, and minimal. Its not designed to give you a whole lot of protection. (ie from dropping banging etc) but it will keep it from getting scratched up and from dirt/dust etc. I can send yousome pics of mine if you like. Good luck.

I just got one of these for my brand new 12" Powerbook:

Highly recommended. No hard protection, but it'll prevent scratches/dust when it's in my backpack (I'm a university student too).

I agree with Koodauw on this one. The Radtech sleeve is great for carrying around campus. One recommendation would be to get a decent backpack, mine is made by Targus, and use it to carry everything with you. I hope it helps, Apmonia.

has anyone tried the radtech mini skin? if you have, does it take away from the mini's appearance? functionality? does it slip off easily (it looks that way in the pictures)? thanks

I have the sleeve for the 3G iPods and it works great. In fact, it actually helped the touch wheel from being too touchy. As for the mini, I wouldn't purchase one, the mini is almost perfect. It doesn't scratch as much as the 3G nor does it need to be less touchy. The only recommendation I can make is to get a digital camera protector on the screen. Fellowes makes them and they should have them at any electronics store.
