Hey all!

I've been considering purchasing a MacMini in the future and I have a few questions... Has anyone replaced the internal drive? What sizes are available? Also, has anyone used their MacMini as a media center with cable? Thanks!

Yes, 2.5" SATA.

Officially, the largest one you can get is a 2.5" SATA 500GB drive. There is a 1TB drive available but it is unknown if it will fit with/without some sort of modification.

Sweet! The same 2.5" drive in my 13" MBP will work in a MacMini?

In reality, your mini is really a macbook with no keyboard or screen. There are a lot of laptop parts in there.

Thanks for the quick replies. Has anyone used their MacMini as a media center? I have a windows media center, but its instability is killing me. Is their a Mac equivalent to windows media center software? Also, has anyone used windows via virtual machine on their MacMini? How is the performance?

This is all great stuff! Next question... With the hard drive upgrade and RAM upgrade, could I use the MacMini as a server? Forgive my ignorance, but I didn't know where else to turn. could I stream media from my MacMini with my MacBook Pro or iPhone? Thanks!

Get one of the new 2nd Generation Intel SSD drives and use an external for primary data storage for things like music and video editiing. Hopefully these will be Mac Compatible because the speed is amazing.
