I am a PC fan. A big one personally, im all about performance and games. Only thing i could possible find a mac good for is photo editing and video editing. other then that what is a mac good for? Warcraft 3 and thats it? well yeah, okay my friends got a fancy g4 powermac He decided to put that upstairs and get a wireless connection going, so he setups up the router downstairs and lugs his g4 upstairs. In stalls his airport card and see if it works. oh wait you need os X to beable to use that... Well at first when u thought of macs u thought IPOD. Only way you could use your ipod is if you had a mac, now you can use PC. So that advantage is gone. Hrm... this is pretty biased but i am extremely pissed of that mac is not realeasing any drivers for anything before os X and forcing people to upgrade... well yeah. Will some one please tell me the advantages of a Mac over a PC

tell me something, does Microsoft support windows 95? what about 98, how much stuff do they support for that? Alright then, with that out of the way... you can use airport in OS 9, it's under utilities...
So, thanks for your flame bait, but i'm really hope you think twice again before posting in a mac forum.
As far as the advantages? There are plenty of forums on not only this website, but hundreds or more websites. But the big thing comes down to preference. Obviously you don't mind windows, so a mac isn't going to be as appealing to you as say a person who is tired of having to deal with Microsoft's shenanigans, and wants something new.
So please, as nice as i want to be, i do believe you know what you're doing by posting that here...

It's mainly usability. For example this link (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=76005). And that PowerMac G4 didn't need OSX to use wireless. I can boot into OS9 and use wireless fine. People use Macs because of mainly being really user centric and the fact that it's really secure. No spyware, viruses or popups. True that can be said of Windows, but even that requires some configuration. Mac users just got tired of having to tweak their OS to use it. Some people get a computer to get work done and not to spend time fixing/tweaking it (though many people do tweak OSX's GUI, but this is optional).

Well intomwetrust might actually want to look into purchasing a Mac or is curious as why a company started in '77 manages to still get by with 3% market share today. I don't think we should judge someone who might just want some answers.
The advantage of the Mac over the PC is just that. For you to make your way to a Mac centric forum and register just to make your comments about a system with 3% market share is quite compelling over the power and intrigue of the Macintosh. And even with 3% MS it still can bring in 52% of the Adobe CS sales (in the first month I believe)

its a computer, it does what the human tells it to do.
your idea of support has more to do with business strategies and profits.

Well, if all you want is play games, they yes you would probably be better off with windowz. Not even worth arguing.

!!! What advantage is gone? I Don't get you. On the contrary, its is more advantageous to you as you can use it with your PC.
And apple is an innovative company unlike M$, so yeah it continues updating its OS, and all minor updates are free.
cheers

plus apples' look nicer. at least they dont come in grey boxes with a mass of wires inside. or in the case of a laptop, they come in cheap black plastic cases that look as exciting as the huge powerbrick that they come with

The upgrade from OS 9 to OS X is like the upgrade from Win 3.1 to your Windows Longhorn. Nobody was forced the upgrade, people wanted to upgrade, it was that good. The advantages over the PC from a PC prospective is probably less viruses, less software related problems, better Internet experience, faster booting, better O/S, better software, and new technology that isn't available for the Windows platform yet.
Windows XP seems like junk in comparision. But I love Windows as a gaming platform over Sony Playstation or Xbox. If the game is available for the Mac, I would play the game on my Mac.

Not to crap on your parade, but Microsoft does in fact support Windows 98. They don't support 95 because everyone whose got some sort of brain power installed 98. Assuming otherwise would be like assuming people are still running OS X 10.0. In any case, Microsoft is supporting Windows 98 through 2006. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.
