I have a jailbroken & unlocked iPhone 2G on T-Mobile.

I just received my Google Voice invite yesterday and had a question that I could not find a specific answer for:

Does the SMS feature of Google Voice app (from Cydia) only use data?

If so, I could cancel the $14.99 unlimited monthly SMS charge and keep the $5.99 and not lose texting and save myself a little tuition money. :D

I was getting texts back from her though. I got a good phone number too, it's (xxx) 2345670. Easy to remember, although ppl would think I was giving them a fake number if I actually used google voice.

I got my invite, but I haven't set up my number yet. Could that be the problem?

The friends that have T-Mobile's texts have been coming thru fine. This is great! I'll be able to save some $$ each month. :) Thanks guys.
