Seems when I look through my phone I have all these games but very few important utilities, etc. List some of your favorite apps that are NOT games. Thanks. :)

My single favorite non game app is notebooks by alfons schmid. Its my favorite text editor app that allows me to work on my writing (novel chapters, tv scripts) directly on my phone.
Next up is PhotoForge a kind of mini photoshop that gives you access to a wide range of features to edit your photos, it works brilliantly at lightening up very dark photos, in effect saving them from deletion. Well recommended.
Air Sharing Pro, this turns my 3GS into a portable storage drive so i can put a wide range of files onto the phone without itunes from my mac. I mainly use it for PDF viewing, when my finished writing is saved in that format. This does iDisk too so i don't need a separate app.
Two new entires are Autostitch and Anigif. Autostitch like the name suggests stitches photos together if i want to create a more panoramic picture. Anigif lets you create movies out of photos that look like stop motion animation and is very cool!
Thats it really, for some reason i cannot stand just dumping every app i have on to the phone and so i choose very carefully the ones i will use on a regular basis, where some people have 128 apps (8 pages) i have only 14 extra apps.

I wish they would release the kindle app in the uk, we have e-readers but with no good accessible e-book stores.

TapExpense - money manager. Fast on the fly entry! It is possible to track multiple accounts, but it wasn't built for that. It also doesn't have any budgetting features. I like it cause entering new expenses is very fast!
Pocket Informant - superb event/task manager. Multiple calendar views, todo filters, and it all syncs to online services.

Pocket Informant
Trip Cubby
Gas Cubby
Illness Tracker
Those are my 4 main "work" apps right now. Of course, i've spent the last 3 days driving 400 miles to doctors/therapy appointments - so well, that might explain the choices! LOL!!
I'm still trying to find a grocery shopping list that works for me. I"ve got Splash Shopper and Groceries on there right now. Nothing is as good as Handy Shopper on my Treo though.....
I want to use Daily Tracker for something - but just can't figure out what. It won't do what i bought it for (and that is now the end of buying without a lite version for me).
I need a good medical tracking app - but the makers of Illness tracker tell me they are working on expanding it more in that area (i'm talking like doc appoint summaries, kids height & weight).

AroundMe and NewsFuse are two utilities that I actually use regularly. Well worth the $1.98 ($.99 x 2)

Thanks so much for all your quick suggestions! At the moment I picked up Around Me, Shazam, Air Mouse, News Fuse and Photoforge. That's about all I can spend right now but keep coming with the suggestions!

Facebook
WeatherBug Elite
There are tons of great apps out there that aren't games. Though I do admit most of the apps on my iPhone are games.

Fluent News - It's free, and it takes news stories from a lot of different sources, puts articles of the same story under one link, and is readable offline.
Instapaper Pro - Read articles offline, formats the articles very well.
iSaveWeb - Saves webpages exactly as you see them in Safari.
try Dan Deadman
it's not a bang bang game, allthough Dan get's executed quite often.

Simplenote is my favorite notes app as it syncs with a web version and is very clean and (yes) simple. I just fluidify (http://fluidapp.com/) the web version on my laptop and couldn't be happier.
