I just bought a 4GB macbook pro and need to install Windows Vista Business for school because I am an engineering Student starting this fall and my school requires it. I have no idea how much space to partition for windows. I will be using Windows for school related purposes including Microsoft office and engineering programs such as Matlab but everything else i.e. my photos, music, etc. will be be on the Mac OS. How much space would you recommend I partition for Windows?

It is a hard question to answer because it all depends on what you plan to install, etc. I would say 40 GB minimum and maybe 60 GB. You will be able to clone and resize if necessary, but I would start there.
Unless you are gaming, then you will need more

This is not something you will keep for 1 month. You will operate windows for just about everything at school. Vista needs tons of apps just to run all the things that are included in OS X. When you have done Office and all school related apps you will be up to 60 GB on the OS alone. If you start a huge mail file in Exchange it will grow quickly. I recommend at least 100 GB.
