Today marks the 1 year anniversary in which the "I am rich" application, by Armin Heinrich was remove from the App Store by Apple.
A little background of the app:
When launched, the screen only contains a glowing red gem, and a button that when pressed, displays the following mantra in large text:
I am rich
I deserv it
I am good,
healthy &
successful
This application was sold on the App Store for $999.99, €799,99, and £599.99.
8 iPhone users purchased the app prior to its removal and the developer since has not been paid the $5,600 earnings from the app.

Did Apple give them a refund or pocket the cash?

I doubt we all need to quote the entire OP not once but twice in a thread with 3 replies. ;)
8 people purportedly purchased the application and did not receive a refund. There was an article on it some time back, but I haven't found it yet.

Damn, here was a developer opportunity missed. Should have thought about it and made the "I am Middle Class" app for the anniversary of the "I am Rich" application.
Have it look like the "I am Rich" app, but make it not sparkle so much. Then sell it for $0.99.

I like quoting long first posts when I'm second. I think that it's helpful- just in case someone missed the first post. ;)
Does anyone know who kept the cash then? If Apple kept it, I hope that the developer has filed a lawsuit against them in order to retrieve it.

I don't know the whole history of this, but I don't see any reason why they should get a refund. Chalk it up to their stupidity.

You could make the "I was rich" app and have a pic of Bernie Madoff pop up...
Or a graph chart the steadily works its way down from left to right, labeled "401k" on the vertical and "value" on the horizontal.

I actually did this: Made a better looking gem, same gradient backround, sold for 99 cents, called "I am $999 richer than you"...
Apple rejected it for "lack of functionality" >.<

Yeah, I'd like to know how Apple gets away with no refunds and no payment to the...uh..."developer". How is that not theft by deception?
