Vertical Scrolling Since 3.0?

No one has posted on a vertical scrolling app since mid 2008, so I figured I'd ask to see if anyone has heard anything recently that would revive the ability to vertically scroll the home screen?

It would be awesome if the iPhone would let us scroll both vertically and horizontally.
