improve asio in windows on mac

I am running cubase studio 4 in a windows XP SP3 partition on macbook pro 2.5ghz, 4mb ram using mac's internal realtek soundcard. I keep on getting asio spikes and clicking music in cubase. Even my standard audio player (winamp) gets clicks playing an MP3.

Anyone got suggestions as to why this is happening/how to correct?

hi solved this one.
The problem has to do with how CPU resources are allocated on a laptop.
I used this software program switchxp http://www.diefer.de/speedswitchxp/
and asio is now undercontrol and audio works fine.
