View Full Version : Mac cant boot up after attempting to install windows D:

UPDATE: Managed to boot Leopard by holding down the option key while booting up. Now I want to know how to install windows 7 without getting the same error!

Here`s the deal... I downloaded Windows 7, installed bootcamp and partitionned 8GB to windows, on my 2.0 UB macbook. I burnt the ISO image to a DVD and followed the steps to install windows. My computer reboots and leads me to a: `Windows is loading files` screen which stays for almost ten minutes. After this, I get:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating to a device connected to your computer. (Please note I have NOTHING connected to my computer)
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable stoage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removeable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.

Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured

Someone please tell me I can fix thid without losing all my files on my hard drive!

A. You burned an ISO? Is this a legit copy of Windows?

B. You made a backup with Time Machine like I know you did, so you shouldn't be worried about lost all of your files. :)

A. Yes, it`s the free version of Windows 7 RC

B. Nope... I didnt want to pay 500$ for the time machine they sell in stores and I have no backup of anything.

They don't sell the time machine in stores. It's included with leopard, all you need is an external hard drive, to back up the files onto with Time Machine. I think you might be talking about the Time Capsule, which is a more advanced version of an external hard drive.

Just FYI you can by a regular external hard drive for like $50-75, that should be able to back all your stuff up. It's so important. I hope you get one for next time. :o
