After 13 years of continuous full-time employment as graphic designer/art director, I was laid off about a month ago. A few weeks ago, I started freelancing in the central/southeastern PA area.

The thing I need help with is one small job that I am doing for a local remodeling place. He asked me if I could design a business card using an already existing logo. I am initially doing three variations for him to choose from, then he will handle the printing. How much should I charge him? I tend to usually bill about $40/hour. I'm figuring this job will be in the $200 range. Is that too little or too much?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

If your work is of suitable, professional quality, then I think you're right on the money (no pun intended :) )

I think that's a fair price.

Have you thought about using the Pricing and Ethical Guidelines book to price your work?

Just a suggestion.

It looks like you have already sorted out your hourly rate, but this website might be food for thought and help you realise work out your minimum hourly rate for a job. freelanceswitch.com/rates/ (http://freelanceswitch.com/rates/)
