I was recently at the Apple Store talking to a Tech about this. I'm trying to get my Samsung SyncMaster 191t 19" LCD to do the 1280x1024 -> 1024x1280 rotation trick.

The tech (whom I know to be a bit opinionated ... is definately educated) said there was software from a 3rd party to do this for you.

I search Apple's Support site, Samsung's website, and every nook and cranny to find it. I've been rather unsuccessful at doing the google tech support database thing as well.

Anyone have suggestions? I can't be the ONLY one out there trying to reverse my resolution!

according to ATI's website (http://www2.ati.com/drivers/macosx-radeon-displays-42_read_me.html), display rotating is only available in OS X with their Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition. ATI calls it "VERSAVISION."

I hope this helps.

From MacWorld -
The ability to rotate 90 degrees clockwise into a portrait mode is meant to let you adjust your screen to resemble a typical paper document. Unfortunately, Portrait Displays' MacPivot software (925/227-2700, www.portraitdisplays.com) -- required to rotate the on-screen image -- doesn't work in OS X, and the company has no plans to update the program.

yup, it seems like you're about $350 away from enjoying display rotation.

Look into a program called "radeon enabler" if you have any ATi card... it'll turn those features on. It's on versiontracker.
