Hey all

I'm a student and since winter has realy just started (in New Zealand) me and my flatmates are trying trying to figure out ways to reduce our power bill so the bill doesn't spiral out of control when we heat the house.

So i was wondering how much energy my 12" powerbook uses when it is asleep? I'm just wondering if it is worth the trouble of booting it up every time i want to use it. I do have it pluged in most of time when i have it home.

Any help on this would be appriciated.

i think sleep mode consumes 1W of power. pretty much nothing.

The power bricks consumer quite a bit of power, and there are usually quite a few of them in people's homes.

Of course so do a lot of VCR, cable boxes, etc. even when they are turned off -- at least the ones that are warm even when off.

But it's usually easier to get rid of the stylish halogen-style lights.

Yea, I think I've heard less than 4 watts per hour. Compair that to a 60 watt light bulb.

d-fi, why do you need the heater? You could always burn old homework and books. :p ;)
