Apple has always lagged behind in the burning speed department - let's hope by Rev C there are 16x Superdrives in the Powermacs.

Wow, that would be nice. 200 US dollars does not seem like a bad price either.

Philips said that 16x burners will be *MAINSTREAM* by the end of 2004. This suggests that there are more vendors (HP etc.) who will be getting them. Since there isn't an immediate release of these drives, Apple won't feel too much pressure for another month or two until they start popping up in BTO options from other vendors. In december, I want *standard*

Likely a stupid question, but I'll ask nevertheless:
What media - besides the dual-layer disks mentioned in the report - will this burner read and write?
I assume DVD+/-R, CD-R, CD-RM, etc., etc. I hate assuming, though. Anyone actually know?
