Need an app that tells me the amount of characters typed in an SMS

Hey guys,

I'm going abroad soon and every text message I send counts as 4 from my monthly allowance when abroad. Therefore it is exceptionally important that I know how many text messages I'm typing and if possible reduce the amount of characters typed to fit the character limit.

Is there an app that does this?

I believe almost any jailbroken SMS app will do this. I know biteSMS does. You can also purchase texts from their own service and choose whether to send each text via their or your phones plan.

Could be perfect for you.
 
I dont really want to resort to jailbreaking my iPhone though. Is there a more legit solution?
 
I don't know why the iphone doesn't tell you how many characters you typed or the exact time for each message.

10 minutes ago i received a sms and like 2 minutes ago another one but with no time.

I believe it shows the time in 15 minute intervals.
