I've been looking for a good beanbag/friction mount type of car mount. When I had my old Garmin GPS, I used this (http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Portable-Dashboard-StreetPilot-Navigators/dp/B000LRMS66/ref=pd_cp_e_0) and it worked perfectly. No windshield suction mess, it was easily portable, and never slipped at all. I'd love to find something like that for the iPhone 3GS (with a case), but I'm not really seeing it.

The closest that I can find seems to be the ARKON SM212 Black Deluxe Weighted Friction Style Dash Mount. Here is a sample link from Newegg.

Has anyone used this mount, or can recommend similar mounts? Ideally, I'd like to be able to just pick it up from the dash and throw it in a truck console when I get to my destination. It would only be used when I need the iPhone for GPS purposes. Having a bottom passthrough for a car charger would be nice too.

Thanks for your help!

Just a note to those who may be interested...I went ahead and bought this, and it works very nicely. We used it as a GPS mount, and for playing streaming audio on a recent trip to the beach, and it was very good.

It holds the iPhone with a case snugly and juuuust manages to allow you to plug it in to a car charger. Now, using a car charger and an aux cable does create a wee mess of wires, but the Arkon itself works and is heavy enough to where I haven't even installed the safety loop catch yet.
