Anyone thinking of buying the current model of the cinema display to use with a PB but bummed about having to shell out another 99 bucks for the converter thingy, here's what to do. This only works of course if you buy it from the Apple site. *
They have been bundling them with the monitors with PB purchase.
1. Add to your order the following:
--a powerbook
--the cinema display of your choice (it will say "+ ADC converter cable" or whatever.)
2. Remove the powerbook from your order.
3. Check out.
* This was actually recommended to me by the nice Apple sales guy on the phone when I purchased my PB but decided to wait on the display and was concerned that I wouldn't get the bundle rate later. :)

Let's see the displays cost $699, $1299, $1999...
The DVI-to-ADC Kit costs $99.
When you buy a PowerBook the Apple Display + DVI-to-ADC Kit costs $798, $1398, and $2098... in addition to the cost of the PowerBook.
For some odd reason I don't see the $99 savings in your method. http://forums.macrumors.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2722
Your method for the buying Apple Display + DVI-to-ADC Kit still looks like you're charged the $99 to me -- $798 ($99+$699), $1398 ($99+$1299), and $2098 ($99+$1999).

oops, maybe with the education discount (which I got) they don't add the cost. I'm pretty sure I checked for that... could be wrong though, sorry.

I think that the ADC-DVI adapter and monitors all bear some level of education discount. But combined in the education PB page they are the same as the two bought separately from the education store.

You could always get a DVI to ADC adaptor on eBay. Have just been looking for a friend whose just bought my 15' LCD and there's plenty of them for $28.

Not to rip on you or anything, but in England, does:
5' = 5 feet and 5" = 5 inches
or is it that:
5' = 5 inches and 5" = 5 feet?
I'm just curious cuz I've noticed that on the boards and I didn't know if it was just a mis-type seeing as they're the same key or if it was a location-based thing (i.e. - left vs. right side of the road).
thanks!
