Trying to diagnose whether my battery is dead or something else.

If the battery is dead on a 6th Generation iPod classic, it should still start up when plugged into a power source, right?

Mine does not, so I'm wondering if I can rule out dead battery as the culprit.

It should still turn on when hooked to an external source, if it is simply dead, however it may need a few minutes of juice before you can access content.
