Where did they say by August 31? They only said late summer and late summer has just now begun. They have until somewhere towards the end of September.

i just talked to them about service problems in my area and jokingly asked at the end if mms would ever be out and he told me sometime this fall which of course got me asking what happened to late summer he said its on apples end i just said ok and hung up

it's a AT&T rep getting a customer off there back and making them happy for now. I highly doubt AT&T employees know themselves. only time will tell I still say 1st week of Sept or 2nd week we have most of Sept to still be in the promised late summer. but I have not spokent to a single AT&T rep to get my info.

I'm guessing around Sept. 8/9th or so. They'll probably launch it w/ 3.1...yes, I know they don't have to...but I don't think they want people downloading 3.1....then a few days later...doing it again in iTunes to download the carrier files...just bundle it together....and have one nice update.

My prognostication is that we shall see an official Apple announcement of the nebulous tablet *thing* AND several creditable rumors of the specs of the next iPhone before AT&T activates MMS for iPhone users. I would even place long odds that we'll see an official announcement of the next iPhone before AT&T activates MMS for the iPhone.

I can respect the anger that people have over the issue, but on the other hand...treating the nebulous guesstimate of "late summer", ESPECIALLY coming from the bastions of forthrightness as AT&T, is just setting oneself up for heartbreak.

Out of the blue today... MMS works. I'd done the carrier update to enable the teather when 3.0 first came out...got the camera icon, but still got the ! when I tried to MMS. Well, the months have passed, and on a whim today I tried again...and, well it worked. It's continued to work all day.

I'm guessing they are actively provisioning accounts finally. Looks like I got my switch flicked. Hopefully, this will be the case for everyone soon.

Now that I have it...aside from the few test ones i've sent...I'm not to sure how much I'll actually use it. But heck, it is nice to have my phone finally be able to do the most basic things is SUPPOSED to be able to.

No, because these rumors are only CDMA. Therefore, you couldn't run a CDMA rumor on a GPRS website, as the GSM valve would stick wide-open, causing the MMS buffer to overflow.

No we'd still have to pay crazy...I've had Nextel(before it was torn apart by sprint), and switched from Verizon to AT&T to get my iPhone in 2007, I'm not an AT&T hater, I actually haven't had a problem yet. I was just trying to be humorous(failed) and appease all the people who say we pay outrageous fees for the iPhone.:D

I just called AT&T to have them turn my viewmymessage back on since it seems like they keep turning it off and the rep said that its Apple fault for the not releasing MMS, that AT$T has been waiting since June. I just started dying laughing. I love how 80% of the reps at AT$T are clueless.

At this point it's in AT&T's court to finish whatever they have to finish and flip the switch.
