So Arn, what gives? I've been having all sorts of issues trying to view and post to the forums and threads.

Yeah check out the Error Message thread in Community Discussion. At the moment of this post there are 250 people in the forums, 30 of whom are registered members.

I was just having huge issues and there were only 159 people on the forums. Not good and I hope it doesn't happen tomorrow.....

is there a way to restrict the number of guests users so that those of us who have "bought a ticket" can get in? just a thought...

I hope this site isn't running OS X Server...? That would be kind of embarrassing.

I guess this means we should all buy like 20 mugs each --- then arn could get an xServe :)

alex, the site runs on Linux. I am pretty sure, when the (S)Hitormiss, or someone like him, character bytched his way into the forums.
mr.w, you buy the mugs, we get 10% commission to buy another. :D
Guys, I already PMed arn, and he hasn't gotten back to me. So, obviously, he is up in arms in trying to get through these issues. I'm sure he'll get back to me...soon.

Arn takes a while to answer PM's....if u really need to get in touch with him....I'd suggest emailing him...
however...the error messages around MW time are nothing new....this happens every time...
and we've already brought up the idea of giving priority to members over guests...but it's not possible...
my best advice...try to make due with the IRC Arn's setup....and keep trying to connect... ;)

hmm...I stand corrected...
has anyone else noticed the little note under the countdown on the homepage stating the forums are only opened to registered users?? :D

by keeping unregistered users out during the keynote will do 2 things: reduce a lot of traffic and cause people to join. Some one should keep track of the member numbers and see what happens.
As of 8:30 AM on the 17th (EST): Members: 6,376

damn...even though nearly 80% of those members aren't even active...
I do remember how excited everyone got when 5,000 members became a factor ;)

Anyone else notice how the clock is also ~1 hour off???
If the issue with the MR server is memory related, then they need to jack it up. I'm sure some additional hard drive space would be helpful as well.

So a little research and I come up with these numbers -
Members signed up so far today - 226
Members signed up yesterday - ~200
Members signed up 2 days ago - ~15
That's pretty crazy - and of course most of them haven't posted anything. There were 2 people who signed up on the 16th with 4 posts.

yeah, it did. I think making it available only to members really made the difference. I was only denied a few times during the keynote. Good job!
