Looking for a little help. Any app that did not come pre-download (stocks, weather, maps, sms, etc) on the iphone will open for one second and then shut right down. I have restarted my phone, restored, powered off and on and nothing seems to work. Any advice on this?

And I did a quick search and found a few people with similar problems but no solutions.

Oh and I am not Jailbroken or unlocked. On ATT's network.

First, do a reboot, see if that fixes it.

Then try adding a new free app, see if that fixes it.

Sometimes it's just one app causing the problem, so you may have to delete apps one by one to find out the source of the problem. You can add back the ones you deleted from iTunes.

Have you tried downloading a random free app from App Store, and see if that works?
If that doesn`t work try syncing with iTunes.

Thanks for the quick replies but:

-Tried rebooting
-Tried downloading a random free app in the app store (same thing happens, app opens and immediatly shuts down).
-Tried erasing last few apps I downloaded to see if it was one of those and still not able to open downloaded apps up.
-Did a complete restore and used back up from earlier today when none of the crap was happening.
-Tried downloading an app from iTunes and syncing it to phone, got same issue.
-Tried downloading an app from app store off of phone, got same issue.

I am really hoping I dont have to erase apps one by one to fix this. Any other ideas?

hmmm sounds like you are in a bad situation here. try adding apps through itunes and see if they crash. Worst case you might have to restore and make sure not to restore from backup I know that causes problems some times

I think you're heading for restore land. You can a restore from backup, but that'll probably just reproduce the problem. If that works, you're golden. If not, bad news if you have to restore as new. However, you can sync everything back over afterwards, as long as you've synced all that can be synced (contacts, music, notes, etc.). Make sure you do a "transfer purchases" so you have all you apps on the computer before all this.

Go to iTunes and make sure the account is the same as the one you used to download apps. Make sure it's the same on the phone as well.

Attempted a restore, but same issue. Used the back up that I had before the issue.

How do I do a "transfer purchases"?

My mother-in-law's iPhone did the same thing shortly after she purchased it. I had to restore it as new. You might be able to do that then apply a backup. If you don't have a lot of saved data on the phone, you might just restore from new then bite the bullet and reenter the data.

Restore as new. What are you losing? txt msgs and some call history.

Back up your pics, music is already backed up (obviously), back up your contacts, let 'er rip.

Yea I guess your right, just was hoping for a way around this without having to go through that.

Only question I have is what will happen to my downloaded apps? When I restore to new, will the apps still be in that "Apps" tab and I will jsut have to click on sync?

Right click on the phone in iTunes, and then click "Transfer Purchases."

Then do the restore as new.

Then sync all your stuff back. Make sure you've synced notes, contacts, etc. to the applicable syncing software for whatever you have (PC or Mac) before you do the restore as new.

I assume you synced everything before all this? You didn't say. Hope you got everything back.
