Virus IS different from malware. Viruses damage your system and infect others but malware does not.

There have been trojans for Mac for long time (remember iWork '09 torrent mess). They are not dangerous unless you're stupid and download everything you can and install them. Virus and Trojan isn't the same thing
This feature has been OS X for ages... problem is it was disguised as a regular confirmation window so people would idly click okay without looking.
If somebody writes some code that wipes out your hard drive, and you download it, open it, enter your password, etc... does that mean you just got a virus? (I think not).
I think Apple is very careful not to say they are invulnerable to all threats - just "virus". Some of you guys need to know the difference.
P.S. I'm too lazy to check the mac ads to see if the mac dude mentions anything other than "viruses".

Hey the way I see it Apple is including more protection into the operating system and that's always a good thing. I still feel pretty confident that if you put the same user on a mac and a PC with no antivirus protection, and let them browse the internet for a given period of time. The PC will have a greater probibility of getting infected with some nasties.

That reminds me on Flash trojans. There are dozens of flash banners in side but video isn't working and asks you to install Flash 😛 Use brains and you're safe

Yeah, and the ones that look like fake Windows messages too! They fail to work on my glorious Mac! In fact, even if I did have Windows, I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to fall for that.

The difference is that for a trojan to work, you have to be stupid enough to enter your admin password.
Very simple. Viruses, trojans, worms, spyware etc fall under the generic term Malware (malicious software).
So does a Virus. A virus doesn't start replicating and causing damage unless you initiate it. Peterg said it right.
