OS9.2 - adjusting brightness in external monitor - how?

My girlfriend is with clients right now and just asked me - I am running OSX and can't remember... Is it under the old long drop down control panel?

what kind of monitor? plain jane CRT? in most cases under 9.2.2, its on the monitor itself, at least in my experience...
