View Full Version : WWDC Coverage
MacRumors
Jun 28, 2004, 09:00 AM
Without satellite feeds or quicktime streams, coverage for WWDC's keynote address is more difficult to obtain. MacRumors should have Keynote coverage, however.
Options for coverage include:
IRC
a) Download the MacRumors IRC Client (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2003/06/20030608214842.shtml) which connects you to the proper channel.
b) If you have your own IRC Client, point it to irc.krono.net, #macrumors or irc.tecknohost.com, #macrumors
d) Web based client can be found at here (http://irc.tecknohost.com/)
Please choose only one option.
Web Coverage
MacRumors will be providing web based coverage. http://www.macrumors.com will redirect to the proper pages as the time approaches.
The WWDC keynote starts at 1pm Eastern time.

Good, hopefully the IRC on the front page will attract more people. Last year hundreds of us were waiting for the details on Panther. As for the forums....
Most users ever online was 2652, 01-06-2004 at 03:14 PM.
Let's see if we are going to break that today.
Less than 3 hours!

I wonder if post Keynote today (or post-WWDC) if they will have a page up on their website detailing the new features. Didn't they have a Panther preview page up last year? I'll make up a URL:

I can't seem to hide the quit messages from the server. If the coverage starts, i'll have to read between these quit messages all the time, not very handy.
I'm able to hide the join messages, but not the quits..

Looking back to last year's WWDC, it appears that even though a QT Stream was not available until after the Keynote, Apple actually announced prior to the event that there *would actually be* a stream.
This time around they haven't even done that. Here's hoping one will be available though...

That's a good point, but they'd still better post one not too long after it. Yeah also I was asking myself that question as well.
To wait for the post webcast after the live event? Or to read the text live?
I don't know it's a tough one.

Yeah, but watch what? You mean read. You wont be watching anything until Apple (hopefully) posts a post quicktime webcast of the event. We're all crossing our fingers. There's going to be a lot of dissapointed Mac fans out there if Apple doesn't.

Ya, I don't really understand this either. Mabey to sell more tickets to the WWDC kind of like local tv blackouts with sports teams..they are more than 1500 bucks afterall...

They have to edit out all the cuss words from Steve when he hooks up digital cameras and other devices to Tiger.

An other thought as to why there is no stream: Could it be that Tiger is still in its early stages of development and Apple therefore doesn't want to show it off publicly yet? So perhaps, Apple we'll only show pieces of the keynote.
