Pandora, AOL Radio, or just do a search for Radio or Music in iTunes.

Pandora does not do local radio. And AOL only does major cities.

I second the Wunder Radio recommendation. One of my most used apps and a real favorite. Definitely worth the money for me.

All of the above are very good recommendations.
Hadn't heard of ooTunes. Looks interesting. Hard to find it in a search unless your are looking specifically for it.
One other interesting app/solution I've started using is Slacker radio. Much like Pandora, or a Sirius/XM subscription, but better (and less $) IMHO. Between using all the apps mentioned and a Slacker account, I've cancelled 3 radio and an internet subcription to Sirius/XM.

You're incorrect. WunderRadio has had many updates since September 2008. Just because it says that under post date on iTunes doesn't mean that that was the last update for the app. I would like to also add that the current version of WunderRadio (version 1.8) allows you to play your stream in the background (if available, which just about all of them are).
Also, WunderRadio has 30,000+ streams to choose from. OoTunes only has 11,000+. Take your pick.
And let me brief you a bit on the updates:
09/25/2008 App added to iTunes app store
10/16/2008 App updated to version 1.1
11/21/2008 App updated to version 1.2
11/25/2008 App updated to version 1.3
12/22/2008 App updated to version 1.4
05/05/2009 App updated to version 1.6
06/04/2009 App updated to version 1.7
06/09/2009 App updated to version 1.7 (iPhone OS 3.0 Tested)
08/13/2009 App updated to version 1.8 (iPhone OS 3.0 Tested) <Current version
