I want to upgrade the ram on my MacBook Pro (Oct 08 model) from 2GB to 4GB. So since I will have that extra stock ram i want to make use of it.

Simple noob question, does Mac Mini use the same type of ram? I have an Intel Mac Mini the one introduced in early 2006 i believe.

So can I just swap out the 2GB i would take out of my MBP with the 1GB thats in my Mac Mini ???

the Mac Mini ram is DDR2 and the MBP ram is DDR3.

Impossible; they're not compatible.

No. They are physically different.

thanks for the quick replies...i assumed because of the mac mini's size that it might use laptop components. oh well.

It does, but they are just too different.

It does; they're just not compatible whatsoever. One is old tech, the other is new.
