I tried to import some Digital Video to my hard drive for the first time and Image Capture, iMovie 6 HD or iPhoto 7 will not recognize the camera. I'm using OS X 10.5.8 on my iBook G4 1.2GHz. The camera is about 7 yrs old. Are there drivers available, I can't seem to find any.
Thanks for reading!

silly question but are you positive the firewire on both your G4 and the camera are working?

have you tested both?
a 7 year old firewire port may have called in it's time...

I tested my iBook Firewire port, cable etc. and it all worked.
The camera is from 2000/2001. I had iMovie running when I turned the camera on, which was incorrect. I needed to have the camera in VCR mode first and then fire up iMovie. It's amazing how important the starting sequence is!! My iBook is a G4 1.2GHz 10.5.8 from 2005 and it imported the footage flawlessly and very easily. This inspired me to buy a new Canon ZR960 MiniDV Firewire camcorder for $249 at BestBuy today. I've been using a Flip Video USB camera for a while.

Now it's time to have some fun with my Intel Mac mini 1.83 C2D running 10.6 with iMovie '09!!!
Thank you!

Here's the edited footage thanks to you!

ah, lessoned learned.

my FW audio interface, M-audio 1812, does the same thing.
Or if I disconnect it, I have to restart my imac for it to register again.
