A good reliable Joystick/gamepad for HALO

I just bought a sea...(something) joypad and it works when I play Tony Hawk but when I play HALO - I can only use the D-pad to look...I configued the pad but no luck...

um....mouse and keyboard...there is no better controller setup for an FPS.

i presume you aren't talking about the console version, right? the entire point of getting the PC/Mac version of Halo for a lot of people is that they don't want to play it with a controller, because it isn't as capable.
