This should probably go in the music section, but alot of threads seem to get missed in there... :(

Either way, this looks like a cool way of discovering some new artists for free. :D we like things that are free! ;) :D

You can download the first part at http://bert.web42.com/macrumors/ . This is my dedicated server, so it should be quite fast. I'll add the others as I get them.

By the way, Part 1 took me 8 hours and 39 minutes to download the first part (1.47 KB/s) :-). Part 2 took slightly over 20 hours :-). Part 3 is uploaded from my one computer; I changed the ID3 tags (changed album to "Mixed Tape 03").

Edit: Parts 1 to 4 are there now. I'll remove them in a few days, though – just want to provide this for Macrumors members.

:eek: :D thats crappy adsl for you, but it should be around 6-8 kb sec, must be a few other people downloading at the same time, might kickem when i get home so you can have the whole pipe (what of it their is).

hey hey guys... slow down on the downloading... :eek: 800mb in the last 12 hours... i only have a 1gig limit - which i am going to update to 2.5 now! didn't think it was quite this popular!

I will put number 2 up earlier maybe 29th so it falls in this month... then only 2 for next month!

I've put MixedTape #1 on my .Mac iDisk. It's a folder; just drag it to your desktop or wherever (zip doesn't make it any smaller).

BitTorrents may take a while to start up; it depends on how many folks are seeding the file. Wait a while. If the file downloads, remember to leave BitTorrent up so that others can get the file from you. Sounds like you may want to read up on how BitTorrent works; try Google.

this is on my ADSL line... only 256kb/s up so maybe only 2 people should download at once. if this becomes a problem i will just password protect it and everyone wil just have to PM for the password which i will only give to 2-4 people a day! :eek: i dont want to do that as it takes more of my time which the regulars might have noted is in short supply! :(

I've been trying to get Tape 5 for a few days but the MB site keeps throwing up a 500 error or timing out. Anyone else had any luck recently?

The sexy-admin.de site that is seeding a torrent for it also appears to have many more leechers than seeds(1) so that hasn't connected in 3 days either.

for those of you that are interested, i've created an 'enhanced' podcast of mixed-tapes.

i don't know about others, but i don't like to have tracks i don't really know about in my library - so an enhanced podcast is great because it keeps it all as one file, and i can skip to songs with the built in chapters.

i'll be adding the mixed-tapes in series, every tuesday.

The bittorrent files worked great, though if you've never used bittorrent before, you'd need to get a bittorrent client. (You can find one here: http://bittorrent.com/download.html )

Then, download the bittorrent file from the website, and open that file with your bittorrent client, and it will download it for you.

I just discovered that with Front Row and all, those 150x150 or whatever artworks are simply to small... does anyone still have bigger versions? Or the PDFs? Some can be found with Google, but not all of them... :(

Also, it's a "greatest hits" selection of previous Mixed-Tape tunes. Also, not as many tracks as other volumes.

I'm guessing this is as a result of that survey that they did a few mixtapes back - and discovered that most of those downloading didn't (or weren't planning to) own Mercedes :rolleyes:
