:apple:TV is showing up in the devices list in iTunes, but it suddenly won't display any of my non-synced content.

Everything was working perfectly fine, and then without any changes being made to anything, the next time i fired up later the same day - no content was being displayed.

I restarted the :apple:TV, restarted my router (though clearly its on the network since it's showing up in iTunes), restarted my computer, reopened iTunes, all to no avail.

Just to see if iTunes and the :apple:TV could "talk" to one another, i tried syncing some new content to it that I was previously only streaming, and the sync worked fine - so I can't figure out what the problem is. It's clearly on the network, and iTunes can clearly still communicate with the device because a sync worked fine.

Any insight??? All of the answers I've found deal with the :apple:TV not showing up in iTunes but, again, that isn't the problem here.:confused::confused:

As mysteriously as this problem started, it seems to have gone away.
Again, without changing anything (besides what I had already tried), I checked the :apple:TV last night and all iTunes content was showing.

As long as the problem doesn't come back I'm content, though I'd love to know what the issue was...

The Apple TV and iTunes have a tendency to lose communication with each other.

Usually, a quit/restart of iTunes is all it takes. On occasion, I've had to reboot the Apple TV and restart iTunes before they got along again. Maybe 2 or 3 times over the last couple years I've had to actually restart the wireless router before things were back to normal, but that for me is not the norm.

Things play nicer when connected via ethernet than wifi, but that's not always possible depending on the layout of your home.

Yep yep. Those issues would occur for me every couple of months. The thing is that I did all of that (as mentioned in the original post) and none of that solved the problem as it would in the past (it just sort of solved itself).

Ah, well. As long as things are working I suppose it doesn't matter what the issue was.
