Messages app, keyboard question

This isn't a huge deal, but sorta bugs me.

If you are reading a Messages conversation, click inside the text box, type your message, click send. Is there anyway to make the keyboard disappear again without clicking Back, or closing the app and restarting?

Just seems horribly inconsistent from other apps. Makes reading longer messages easier if I can hide the keyboard.

I have toyed with this for a while now and... no... I am slightly annoyed with this also, but I guess it's just one of those things. If you hit edit.. it will go away so you can see it all.. but you have to then hit edit again to bring it back up.
