How Well Will Snow Leopard Be On My Macbook 5,1

Yeah, you'll be fine. Snow Leopard was made to work most fully with the unibody MacBooks and newer.
 
I am running Snow Leopard on a Unibody MacBook. Works like a charm. Absolutely painless upgrade.
 
what do the numbers mean

Other than those, I imagine NYC has the same shops as everywhere else in the country for buying hardware 😉

The numbers refer to revision, where the first number is the generation number of the model and the second number is the revision within that generation.

Also, what part of you made you think SL WOULDN'T run well on a practically new piece of hardware? lol...
 
My 2.4 Unibody MacBook went from a geek bench of 3133 or thereabouts to a 3411 with no other modifications save for snow leopard. It runs like it was designed for it. 😉

Really? I find that Expose/Spaces/Animations run way better than what it did on Leopard. You can actually see it being more smooth regardless if I'm using the 9400M or 9600M GT. Sorry to hear you're not experiencing the same.

There are a few threads on here and the Apple forums of people with the same thing.
 
The nVidia 9400M's hardware accelerated h.264 video is most impressive. I've got a 1080p HD video from the BBC which (under 10.5.x) pegged the processor cores @ 50+% activity while playing. With 10.6, the same video plays with only the first segments of the "LED" processor activity bar in Activity Monitor lit, maybe around 10% processor activity.

Very cool.
