Anyone have experience with a Vistablet?

I am in the market for a tablet. I really only need it for some very specific function in Quark and InDesign-- I keep seeing this "Vistablet" online at a pretty attractive price point, but the reviews are HEAVILY mixed.

Has anyone here used one? What do you think? I really don't need a pro grade setup here, just something good enough for now, and I really don't want to shell out for a bottom end wacom if there is something maybe a little better at a similar price point from someone else.

No experience with vistatablet, but have a wacom bamboo and it works well. As it looks like you are doing layout work and not digital painting, a bamboo will work for you just as well as an Intuos and cost you a ton less. Just my .02, I am sure 100 people after me will reply that you should spend on a fortune on the latest and greatest Intuos.

I use a Wacom too but I don't really know how to use it. I find myself using a mouse and Illustrator a lot easier than drawing with the tablet.

I do a lot of selective masking and rotating of images that I think would benefit from a tablet, but I rarely draw. Do you think the small bamboo would be OK? That tiny surface area concerns me a little. The Vistablet is 9x12 so a lot roomier, but I can't get past the heavily mixed reviews.

I would go with a bamboo. I have an old intuos2 and I'm switching to a cintiq tablet. You could also try a second hand intuos.
