Random Google search results in the following -
The whole "Generation Dispute" is odd. Most people refer to the newer iPods as "3g", the iPods with touch wheel "2g" and scroll wheel "1g".
Here's a list of the iPod "waves". The Orignal prices are always $500,$400,$300.
iPod (with Scroll wheel)
20, 10, 5
iPod (with Touch Wheel)
20, 10,5
April 2003--iPod (docking, touch buttons)
30, 15, 10
August 2003--iPod (docking, touch buttons)
40, 20, 10
January 2003--iPod (docking, touch buttons)
40, 20, 15
Docking doesn't mean it comes with a dock, just that it has the 30 pin dock connector at the bottom. The new Docking iPods have 4 circular buttons directly below the screen. The pre-April 2003 iPods have the 4 buttons around the scrollwheel.
