A tried it the day it was released a few months ago and cancelled it two hours later. It's only as good as the cell phone service in the are you are in. No service, no GPS with this app.

Except you pay ~$100 a year for map updates, which are free with AT&T's app. And if you're not using the app for a month or more, cancel and save money, only pay when you need it. For many people, the AT&T solution is far cheaper in the long run.

You're making things up to justify your purchase. Neither Navigon nor TomTom has said how much map updates will cost. Further, it's illogical to think they'd cost more than the apps themselves. Thanks for playing.

You don't know how much updates will be, and, you don't have to pay for the updates if you don't want to.

a) no one knows how much they will be
b) no its not, as you do not need to buy the map updates

yes navigator has the updates included, but it also requires a data connection to download the maps, which is not always possible due to no signal

Who cares? I'm fine with spending $89 every 3 yrs or so for the "newer" version of Navigon, etc. By that time, the apps with full maps may even be around $50, who knows.

It's not like roads pop up overnight. People get all in a tizzy about needing to have the absolute hot off the press version of maps. Most of the time, the older maps do just fine. Update every couple of years and you'll be just fine.

Whatever the case, buying the full version of an iPhone GPS program every few years will always be more cost effective than paying $9.99/month forever.

Even if you buy map updates for $100 per year, it will still be cheaper. And I will be less then $100. $10x12= 120 So now your saving $20 a year. On the condition the maps are overpriced. Also this solution works with no signal. No matter how you swing it buying the navigon app is cheaper.

I used the AT&T service for a month then switched to Navigon. I found Navigon so much better.

It isn't even the cost of the apps that's an issue for me; I've just never been THAT impressed with Navigon's service. Still too many issues, even after the upgrade. The only 2 GPS apps I stick with are AT&T and TomTom.
