Yes it was...but it happens all the time..even when I don't hibernate.

My buddy who had an illegal copy of Windows 7 did this same thing. My other friend who has a legit copy does not have the pause issue. The "illegal" copy didn't start doing this until he used the activator crack. He said the same thing happened with Vista (which he also used an activator crack).

Anyway, perhaps it has something to do with the bootloader?

Well, I have figured out how to fix that problem when I notice that Vista also encounters same issue. The only difference is that Vista displays Bootloader error, while Windows 7 doesn't. That's why you guys see blinking prompt in the blank screen. Therefore, I am successful to apply the same method used for Vista to fix the issue.

+ Download and install the EasyBCD from http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1
+ Go to Diagnostics Center
- Check Repair OSX "HFS+ Partition Error"
- Attempt Recovery (Drive: 0 - Partition: 1)
+ Go to Manage Bootloader
- Reinstall the Vista Bootloader
- Write MBR
+ Restart and your windows will boot in less than 20 seconds

A good idea for Vista but EasyBCD 1.7 doesn't support Windows 7 properly. You have to download the 2.0 Beta Build 64 from the support forum which requires registration on the forum.

This fix will only cure the blinking cursor for those with a genuine copy of Windows so I wouldn't waste your time trying it if you're using a pirate copy. It hangs with the combination of Apple's BIOS emulation and the crack they use to fool windows pretending to be an OEM's BIOS doesn't work.

I am running a pirated Win7 on my 13" MBP, and this definitely fixed the lagging boot problem. However, now my Windows says its not genuine :/ I guess this also breaks whatever cracks were running that made the pirated version work...
