iPod touch ipod Touch 1G, strange behaviour

I have an iPod Touch 1G and its been acting rather strangely, its been going from full battery to no battery and has no WiFi, the WiFi option is greyed out, any ideas what could have caused it and how it might be fixed.

Try restoring it, but it sounds like a hardware problem. Especially since it's greyed out.

Are apps running?

In addition to wifi, make sure no apps are running.

after i washed my toch yesterday, WiFi was greyed out for me too, but a reboot took care of it. Sadly the screen is still messed.
