Today MacWorld released their first iPhone app and it's called: App Gems. It cost 1.99$ and the purpose of it is to read app reviews rated by MacWorld instead of reading reviews from other sites or forums like this one. This app is great for those who trust MacWorld's opinions. The great thing is that you no longer need to waste your time surfing around forums like this one to read app reviews... just tap the Gem logo on your iPhone and you get:

Why do they charge for an app like that?
Exactly. And if ever, why would they charge 1.99$ and not a normal .99$ like all the rest..?

I use Newsstand and grab the RSS feed...even simpler.

Why do they charge for an app like that?
Because they made it and they can decide what they want to charge.

Nice find. However I will wait to it goes to it's more realistic price: Free. If it had of started out at 99¢, I would of brought it already. Now they gave me time to consider the worth of the information.

It's not near to comprehensive yet. A few apps rated in each section, I suppose they'll be adding a lot more as time goes on. A search feature would be great, quickly check if MacWorld has anything on an app you're considering.
