These guys made this song and video for a project at Princeton. I think it's hilarious and they did an awesome job on the accents.

hehe, that's pretty funny :D

I can't stand crappy commercial rap either... their links are a good start for people who what to explore hiphop artists that are different from the ones they're making fun of (especially Def Jux rules my world...)

they are missing n-Tone, Ninja Tune and the man MF Doom though ;)

nice job guys, thumbs up

In the song he says, "I love you like a black dude loves fried chicken." If you think that is funny, then that is just sad. Too bad these guys are going to Princeton and still do not have a clue. Pathetic...

Black dudes from many parts of the Southern US love fried chicken. Maybe its not nice or PC to stereotype an entire population, but such a generalization is true on a large scale. Its like saying that Chinese people love to make money and spend money on things that would enhance their social image (ie: clothes, cars, and other status objects), which would be true of many chinese people. I'm chinese, and I wouldn't be insulted by that.

Not a big fan of weird al comedy but if they would have dropped the "i love you like a black guy like fried chicken or another black guy yelling than i could see them selling this to MTV.Mtv loves the young and the goofy.

Not really very funny, true. But in their defense, the original lyric (I love you like the fat kid loves cake) wasn't exactly PC either... ;)

Any pop music always gets attacked this way though. I don't see how pop hip-hop is any worse than pop rock is when it comes to being shallow though.

*start rant* OTOH, I think if they're dumping DMX into this group then they aren't really listening to any of the words in the songs...DMX is a thug is one thing, but saying his songs are shallow is a little hard to believe. *end rant*

Very true, but at least most overweight people can do something about it. One cannot do anything about their ethnicity. I just find it hard to find humor at the expense of another persons race.

Yeah, I can see that.

But sometimes things like that serve a good purpose when people poke fun at their own ethnicity (the person in the video is Afr-Am too, right?). Anyway, its good because it dispells the notion that anyone outside of the race wields any power over them through the stereotypes. We (Indians) laugh at some of our stereotypes too....

But I think its better when its someone who actually appreciates the culture. It's crass when the point you're trying to make is that all hip-hop sucks, although I guess these guys like some small-label hip-hop. Then you're veering into uncle tom territory. ;)

It also depends on what kind of radio you listen to hip-hop on. I think pop radio (stations that don't exclusively play hip-hop/R&B) paints a very bad picture of the genre. Some of the more shallow groups they play get airplay on "Black" radio, but most of the best stuff even in mainstream hip-hop doesn't get pop radio play. FWIW I think MTVs a little better, although I don't watch it much anymore.
