Monitor Recommendatons

hey, i need another monitor for my office and need some help

What I want in the monitor:

size: 21.5-27 inch

panel type: whatever looks good

ergonomics: as long as the monitor is VESA compliant its okay

What I dont want in the monitor:

-noise if i lower the backlight
-cracking plastic sound when the monitor heats up
-bad colors and or washed out colors
 
under 400 and might i add i already have a dell 2209wa but it keeps making a crack noise when it gets hot so ide like different suggestions

Ah well, that blows my recommendation out of the water. I haven't had any problems like that. Have you considered getting it replaced? They have a really good warranty.

that sounds like a good suggestion what i am talking about is random crack noises (sounds like plastic cracks or something) that happen every 5-10 minutes even if the monitor is asleep...so your monitor is silent all the time with no such cracks ever?
 
Dell's Ultrasharp 2408 is regularly dipping under $400 these days, and also worth considering if you don't mind PVA instead of IPS. Just please don't buy a TN - it's a sure path to crappier color.
