I love my new mac pro

Hi everyone. I'm new to the mac pro world. I was not happy with a iMac 24 from a performance perspective (aperture 2.0 and PS CS4 working with more than 20k photos). I just set up my new mac pro and wow, I'm speechless...
Here are the specs.
Octo 2.66
12 GB ram stock
Pioneer BDR-203 blue ray burner (replaced the stock optical)
Intel SSD 80GB G2 (boot) installed in the second optical bay
4X WD 1TB Re3 (RAID 0) for data
Radeon 4870 stock
Dell 30 inches (From an old PC) minidisplay port to dual link DVI
Nec LCD3090WQXi dual link DVi
mac os X 10.6 (bought the family pack DVD) My mac pro was probably one of the last shippping with Leo ( shipped on august 27th...)

Everything working well and lightning fast...

I love my new mac!

Congrats on the new system. I guarantee you'll love it. Only thing is I hope you didn't buy that ram from Apple as that would have cost you alot more. Any way thats just my 0.02$.:rolleyes: Enjoy your system:D

Awesome! You pretty much have the same MP as me. I'm VERY happy with mine. Using it for composing in Logic Pro. Love it!

I bought my mac pro in February, 2007. I still love this thing.

2 x 2.66ghz Dual Core Xeon
2x250gb Western Digital RAID0, 160gb Seagate for Media Storage, 200gb Western Digital for Projects/Windows XP Pro
6gb of RAM (2x2gb, 4x512mb)
Logitech Mx518 Gaming Mouse
2 x ATI HD3870 (one card upgraded with the Accelero S1 rev.2 cooler, soon to be both)
24" LG P-MVA panel monitor
320gb External HD (Western Digital, soon to be 500gb WD 2.5")

When you need performance nothing but a Mac Pro will do. I know lots of folks say the desktop is dead and that laptops are the future.

That box will last you 10 years easy.

I am still working with my 2006 mac pro and I just cannot see a reason to upgrade. So you can expect a long life on that workstation.

As for the raid0 data disk, i trust time machine on a 2tb external hd (fw 800)

Congrats! I got an 8-core 2.8ghz last Summer and I ABSOLUTELY love it! I've never used another computer that can touch the power on these beasts.

I am still working with my 2006 mac pro and I just cannot see a reason to upgrade. So you can expect a long life on that workstation.

My DP 2.7 G5 still kicks serious ass. It's almost 4 1/2 years old. If apple still supported PPC with the new OS's there wouldn't even been a hint of a reason to upgrade.

Pretty good workspace 5120 X 1600...
Best way to put a wallpaper is to split a 5120 * 1600 picture in half. There is no way to stretch from one monitor (besides having 2 graphic cards?).
One minor caveat, the menu bar on the left working with programs on the right monitor...

I am not entirely convinced for the SSD because my Mac Pro is always on (SATA card for my external back up), but everything else is great.
Let me know when you gonna make a try w your blue ray burner
