iPhone 2G won't turn on - only when plugged in - No Charge - HELP!!!!!!

I have a iPhone 2g 8gb that will only turn on when it is plugged in. It will however not charge when plugged in. It turns on, flashes the apple logo for a couple seconds, turns off, and repeats.

I have tried getting into DFU mode, with no luck. I did get it into DFU once, but then it shut itself off. iTunes is not recognizing the phone.

It will not do anything when it is not plugged in. Please HELP!

First open iTunes and connect your iPhone cord to your computer, but do not plug it into your iPhone. Then press and hold the home button on your phone while connecting the iPhone cord into your iPhone continue to hold down the home button. Then click restore in iTunes.

You could try getting Apple to replace the battery:
http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/battery

I guess they would test the phone as part of the process and let you know if it is something else that's wrong.

Then it sounds like your battery is bad. Get a replacement after you have it checked in the Apple store.
